How about just having GTEpro and GTEam cars. Without the LMP1 and 2, the race would actually reflect the good old days. I know, wishful thinking given the amount of $$$$ involved
^^ I was delighted when the 1997 and 98 races, if I recall correctly, were won by the McLaren F1 and the Porsche GT1, due to rule changes that made prototypes either ineligible or uncompetitive. I can't remember exactly being as that was over 20 years ago, plus I'm on my phone and too lazy to look it up.
Unless they discovered that after the race, that's not what they were saying during the race. Left rear was cut when the Aston overcooked the turn trying to make that inside pass, and then turned back onto the track right into the Vette.
FWIW.....Within minutes, the commentators indicated that the RIGHT FRONT TIRE had flat-spotted entering one of the Mulsanne chicanes. The flat-spotted tire wound up causing Taylor to not be able to set-up for another turn, and went straight through a gravel pit... which then caused a puncture of the LEFT FRONT.
Had nothing to do with the battle with the Aston at Arnage.
