My 991 GTS with GTS Interior Package is 2.5 years old and the Alcantara looks brand new. Nick says it's all the same, regardless of vehicle, in his video, but Alcantara is a registered trademark of the material made by a particular company. I would love to know what his facts are on proving that it is all the same, regardless of the car it is installed on.

I had doubts about getting alcantara. I had full leather in my 997 GTS, but the 997 GTS didn't have the nice GTS Interior Package that the 991 has. The 997 just had alcantara seats, steering wheel, shifter, and a few other pieces. I wasn't crazy about the looks of it so I opted for full leather. I had doubts about getting it in the 991 GTS, but to me, the 991 GTS Interior Package just looked so good, and to me, made the GTS so much different from a regular Carrera, that I took the chance. So far, I have no regrets and mine still looks great. I do take very good care of my car, however. I have seen seat bolsters on leather sports seats in fairly new cars looks badly worn just because people are not careful about getting in and out of the seats. That's not a fault of the leather, it's the people. I think same thing can be said about the wear of alcantara.

I was concerned about the wear element of the steering wheel and shift lever in Alcantara, so I switched both of those to the carbon fiber versions. It all ties together really nicely with the carbon fiber trim inserts.
