Need to replace the horns on my 2008 Turbo. Anything else I should do while the front bumper is off? Going to take care of the windshield washer fluid pump as well but that's in the fender well.

Clean the intercoolers, then spray them with high temp matte black paint.

Do the diverter valves while you are at it. The Agency Power units are relatively inexpensive and easier to put in with everything off. If you have more than about 80K miles, they are probably shot.

Cheers,

When I changed my horns, I left the originals in place and relocated the replacements behind the headlights...Now if I ever need to get to them again I just pull the headlights rather than the bumper.

Won't the natural aluminum finish she'd heat better than once they're painted, with the paint acting to some degree like an insulator?

From an emissivity perspective the intercoolers are better to be silver than black (think shiny tea pot).

Hmm, maybe, but mine are already painted black and chipped to hell. 2009 Turbo S

My 09s are black on the fronts too, but when I installed the upgraded FVD ones I left them the natural silver. Maybe while the bumper is off instead of repainting them and adding a 2nd layer of insulating paint, what you should do is get some aircraft paint stripper, which is aluminum safe, and remove all the black paint, which will probably make them both look and work better.

Natural aluminum would look more like this (Misha bumper and not painted yet).

There will also be black screens over all these openings, but the silver that shows through I think will complement the other silver trim I have on the car.
