So my Father was recently at The Collection dealer in Miami, FL, he was in the Workshop area talking to a Mechanic from Porsche. He was told that Porsche will never make the Ultraviolet color available again because supposedly they had MANY problems with it at the factory.
From what he was told, the issue was that the color would come out different depending on what direction the Machine would spray the car from. And that the color would change and not look the same on all sides/panels.
Could this be true? And has anyone else heard anything about this? Was this maybe the reason the color was supposed to come off from the available colors when the car came out and a few cars were already being delivered?
I too was told by the cleaning lady that the staff just got tired of making that color and refused to squish more. Didn't help sales when someone also found a toenail embedded in the paint.
Does anyone have a "standard" GT3 in PTS UV?
Would be interesting to see it on the narrower body.
'Ultraviolet' was not available to any other model besides
the '16 .1 991 gt3 RS until just recently. There were no
'16 .1 991 gt3 done in PTS regardless. And it was not
even formulated prior to that. So the answer is 'No'.

Correct. It was first approved last year for the Macan.
And more recently for the 991, 718 & Panamera!

It would be unusual for 'Ultraviolet' to pass feasibility testing
first for the '16 991 gt3 RS & then the Macan, then all 991,
718 & Panameras...only to be discontinued due to warranty
claims. But it's not unprecedented. 'RS Orange', color code
8C6, was specially formulated for the 2007/2008 .1 997 gt3
RS. It was used for several years in RS production, then on
Limited Edition Boxsters & Caymans...& then added to the
approved list of PTS for 997s in general (beginning in MY2008).
And after MY2010, it was pulled, alledgedly because of warranty
issues that started to show up years later.
PAG allowed at least one customer to order his 918 Spyder
in this special orange color. 'RS Orange', in my opinion, is
one of the most beautiful orange hues formulated by Porsche.
The others are 'Signal Orange' & 'Continental Orange', historic/
vintage hues of early 911 era.

Regardless, I do hope the rumor about the elimination of
'Ultraviolet' proves to be unfounded. Like 'RS Orange', I
believe that 'Ultraviolet' is one of the all-time great colors
in Porsche's history! And it will command a PTS-like premium
in the secondary market for all '16 .1 991 gt3 RS that were
painted in this spectacular huel..to the end of time!
Highjacking thread for a bit. Eduardo can you show me difference between Gulf Orange and continental Orange and signal orange. Thanks.
I'd be interested to see that difference too, although Continental and Signal oranges are both (/) on the list so in terms of colors one can get now perhaps add signal yellow (which seems to look orangey in some light conditions) and pastel orange to the question instead or as well??
As Eduardo wrote, you can now get it in standard 991s. Here is a Targa GTS recently posted on IG. Have also seems a Macan listed recently in the same color.

Saw that Targa in UV, and gotta say, it just doesn't work well on that body style. I think the problem is the clashing of the purple with so much red in the tail lights, especially the horizontal one that connects the 2 tail lights on the 4 GTS rear.
Looks SO much better on an RS with the black accents....
