Default Seeking Magnagrafik stone guard experience

Seeking Magnagrafik stone guard experience from long time users:

* Stable application? Does it stay put?
* Edge condition, re dirt accumulation, etc.?
* How often do you remove it and re-apply?
* How do you feel about the product?

For those with light-colored cars (silver/white), has the high contrast grown on you?

I was just at the Cars n' Coffee in Wake Forest, NC and talked to two guys who had Magnegrafik appliqués on their 997s. One also had a Magnegrafik Porsche crest on his fenders.

They both said they really liked them and had no lifting issues. I don't know how old either set was but it didn't appear that they were curling at the corners and I was surprised to see that they laid very flat. From pictures, I expected them to be thicker-looking.

I was surprised to find that they looked nicer than I had expected.

I had them and they work great. No lifting issues at ~160.

However.. don't go to the touchless car wash. It ripped them right off and I didn't know it. Went back and they were destroyed. Ran over all day by other cars

* Stable application? Does it stay put?
... solid
* Edge condition, re dirt accumulation, etc.?
... not much if any in between washes
* How often do you remove it and re-apply?
...every time I washed
* How do you feel about the product?
... good stuff. Don't use at car washes

Got 'em. Love 'em. I can corroborate platinum997's responses.

Got 'em also, agree with everyone else above. However, they do not completely cover the factory stone guard. I believe it is on purpose, because they are too thick to lay flat on the double curve at the rocker panel.

I had the Magnagrafik stone guards for a while. No issues.

The guy at Magnagrafik did tell me that if you get them wet, you need to remove and dry off completely, as the water could leach behind the stone guard, subsequently allowing them to fly off at speed.

I got them originally to see how I liked the black stone guards on my car. After 6 months or so, I decided to replace them with the permanent vinyl ones. I sold the Magnagrafik ones to another Rennlister.

I have the CF stone guards.....no issues is 2+ years. Driven in the sun, rain, track speeds well above 150. I placed them over the factory clear guards.

I bought a set to see if black CF stone guards would look good on my car, but had a different experience. That said they could be applied over the OEM vinyl ones, but when I did this, the top corner of one wouldn't stay down and kept pulling away - the other one when placed in that same area stuck just fine, so it wasn't the car. Never felt comfortable enough that it would stay on so didn't drive with them at all and instead just cut my own from 3M CF vinyl I had and applied them over the OEM ones. Nothing to fuss with other than wiping on a little 303 Protectant every so often .

Are yours matte black or CF? How do they look with rock impacts?

Thanks all for your feedback!

Black CF.....it's not gloss, more of a matte finish.

Had them on a few years now (matte) to replace the factory clear vinyl. Take them off at every wash & wax.
Love the contrast and no issues.

I have matte black one.
It is bit smaller than OEM and I put over my clear. Because I don't want to take my OEM clear one and it may gives double protection.

I drove over 100 m/h and it stick very well.
I took it off when I do car wash and place back.

First time when I got it, it seems didn't stick very well over clear but once you mount, it will stick there. Don't need to worry.

Overall, I am very happy with it.

I've been using Magnagrafik stone guards since I purchased my C4S back in Oct '13, at which time the yellowing original stone guards were removed.

The first set lasted ~30k miles, when one side began to "de-laminate".

I purchased a replacement set earlier this year and they arrived with a blemish; I'm still waiting for the replacements.

I like the product, however they do get worn and pitted over time, but that is good in my opinion.

The leading and upper edges collect road grime so they do need to be removed and washed frequently.

They do not come off at speed, although that was a concern of mine as well.

I do not wash the car with them on. They are washed with warm soapy water. They dry quickly and they should never be put on wet (duh).

FWIW, Dan (owner) mentioned that he has been super busy with his corporate (racing) accounts and was considering getting out of the consumer market...
