Fun to re-read now, very influential as a kid & my first exposure to Ruf - who else caught the bug around that time?
I did. I still have that issue of R&T too...

Same here. Probably the most memorable single magazine issue of my life. Was the first thing that came to mind when I heard a CTR tribute was coming.

Me too, and UK mag Autocar (or it may have been called Motor back then) ran coverage of the same test, it was that incredible top speed which first got me into 911s it was absolutely mind blowing. and I was fortunate to own a CTR many years later which ultimately turned out to be a disappointment, just a bit too noisy and raw and the MAP based Motronic resulted in a thirsty and lumpy (at low revs) drive.

This new CTR is just insane, the Singer is a restored 964 the Ruf is a totally ground up new car just fantastic.

There is no other modern car I would rather have than this.

Ha. I suspect a non-turbo version will follow at a price similar to a well-spec'd Singer and if that's the case it's a no-brainer IMO.

If they do that I'm in. Would be the perfect modern day 911.

I think I read that article about 100 times. Paul Frère was cemented as a legend in my mind with that article, as was the writing of Peter Egan.

Always wanted a Ruf.
Dream cars, right now the only car I'd concider keeping forever.

Only potential issue is no IS distribution or service / warranty centers.

RGT8..

If only there was someone on RL actively buying car dealerships that could solve this problem...

Approx US $750,000 for the latest 2017 CTR version... all planned 30 units are soldout/spoken for thru 2018-2019 production cycles (the 1st one is actually going to end up in Miami to a RUF collector). The list is 40 deep and the serious interest grows... it's possible RUF may extend production to satisfy beyond the committed buyers and it's also possible they may produce a "lesser cost" version. We'll see since their current business vision isn't to alienate nor to discriminate... therefore there is a possibility to meet customers' needs/wants to have one.

This was easily one of may favorite cars at Geneva.... was well worth the trip for me to see all the RUF models on hand.
