Good luck getting the code because Singer won't release it. I asked the owner of Minnesota and he was nice enough to call Singer and they wouldn't release code. I'm not surprised.
My c2 is at paint now with engine and interior out for a re-spray. As others have said, if going a different color do it right. I think you'd regret it every time you opened the engine lid.
Regarding originality, I think that on a HIGH milage, highly MODIFIED car with tasteful and performance improving changes, value reduction due to change of color will be negligible. If original color was not desirable it could actually help. I've never seen Velvet Red but I'm sure it's cool and it maybe you shouldn't change due to rarity.
My opinion: Bottom line is that these cars are awesome and rare and the ones done up by the guys on this site represent some of the coolest cars ever made. I'm not looking at mine as an investment just as a passion. With that said, I have a sneaking suspicion that if one of these well done beauties hits the market they will command nice dollars from the right buyer. With Singer charging 575k for their masterpieces and supply diminishing as a result, 80k+ for a really well done example is not hard to imagine.

I'm sure a couple purists were sad it's not red anymore, but you should have seen everyone's reaction to it every time it pulled into Cars & Coffee.

Velvet Red is cool though too.

Im glade i don’t have this problem !!!!!!!
I love the dark blue and black in 964.
I have a green 964 and i can never get petrol or pop to the shops without someone commenting on how much they love the colour as it not just another black or silver one.......
Having said that i love the gray of Steve McQueen’s Turbo.
My answer is paint it whatever makes you smile when you look at it, mine has grown on me and i smile every time, that’s what its about.
Good luck!

I'm going to be in a similar position in a couple years. I plan on racking up some miles once she is mechanically perfect before going with a respray. But I have been contemplating wrapping the car before committing to the color change. I keep coming back to a different question though, what else do I want to change?
I REALLY want to delete the sunroof (for weight and helmet clearance), I'd also like to shave the front bumper detent and headlight washers. If I'm going to chop up the roof, I might as well change the color because I doubt anyone will ever bother to reinstall a sunroof for the sake of originality. So I pose the question to you, what else is on the to-do list long term exterior wise?

Was waiting for you to show your car.
That is an understatement. What a color shift. Love how bright light highlights all the black features around the car.
Mine car looks "similar" to yours in the shade, but much darker in the sun. (<- profile pic)

I'm voting for Slate because it sounds like its the color you truly want. You wont have buyers remorse about spending $ on paint if you pick the color you actually want.
