Default Replace ALL coolant hoses?

Need feedback. I have coolant in my oil, but the coolant looks like it is good. Doesn't appear cloudy or milky. Replacing engine with a used one.

I wanted to know IF I discover traces of oil in the coolant, do I HAVE to replace all the lines, and if so, WHY? Can I just flush them and the radiators/heater core?

if so? How big of a job is it to replace them and can I do it myself, if the engine is already out?

Welcome all feedback and advice.

oil in the cooling system can make the hoses get VERY soft and lead to them failing......it sounds like there is no issue with yours......i would still flush the system both ways and have your mechanic replace any that look iffy ,new stat and pump /belt/pulleys

Ok. Thanks. Has anyone ever replaced all the hoses before, and how hard was it? Like I mentioned, then engine is being replaced and all maint. Items on it will be addressed and replaced.

Ex Tanker is correct. The damage is softening that creates a burst risk. Jake and others(Search) have mentioned this issue.
IIRC it depends how long/much exposure to oil there was. And I guess your risk tolerance. And how effective any cleaning may be. When in doubt.....
Others may be able to suggest the best source for the hoses and Mubea clips. There are Mubea kits but check here first before you buy- they are tricky

Just sharing my experience. I had a cracked head and extensive intermix back in 2008. Not sure how long it went on but by the time I found it the oil was like a milkshake and the coolant like pudding. I fixed the cracked head and flushed the cooling system several time including having the radiators cleaned and running cloths through the pipes from the front to the back. I continued to see traces of oil in the coolant for quite some time, but changed the coolant every two to three years ( by the way I run Peak 50/50 coolant after flushing out the Porsche OEM coolant, there is no reason to pay for the Porsche OEM or G12 coolant). Sine then I have run the car 8+ years and about 50,000 mile. I have replaced 3-4 hoses in that time, that is it.

And if you want to replace all the hoses be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars on the hoses and hundreds of dollars in labor, there are a hell of a lot of hoses in these cars.

Can you provide any evidence of this claim?

I'm with Turtle on this one, isn't there somewhere in the fine print that says that if you use anything but Porsche brand pink coolant, they'll come and repossess your 911, ship it back to Germany where it's melted down to raw metal for use in the manufacturing of toilets? Nothing gives the Germans more joy than pissin' on folks that break the rules.

Wooow wooooow woooooow.....can we stay on topic? Let's not let this thread spiral off into another direction that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

We recently had a detailed discussion of the chemistry of the various coolants. The conclusion by the smart and helpful Forum Members was that OAT was just fine. There is also a recent video by NeilB (Boxster S/M96).

Not really. All the Forums are flawed in the sense that eventually things turn into a pissing match about something or they take a turn and end up in left field. At that point the OP has usually not gotten an answer or other people are disinterested because the current discussion is not realavant to the original post.
