BTW. What is your guarantee worth?
Haha, yea you're right, I never use that word and I shouldn't have. But I would be surprised if Australia doesn't get the manual, they get the R so.. unless they want a riot on their hands LOL. I just think the sales guy is speaking out of his rear end

That argument doesn't mean anything since its model specific. Aussie cars also came std with equipment that is optional in other countries.

911 R was only available with manual
GT3 was only available with PDK

Apples and oranges.

I'm going to start throwing out "guarantees" like candy since they're worth nothing... here goes: I GUARAN-EFFIN-TEE it, that Porsche won't exclude Australia from manual GT3 when rest of world gets them. Here goes... a few more days and we can all check the Australian configurator.

This is fun

IIRC he stated at one time that he was from Malaysia, not Australia.

If you are a 918 VIP customer, there is already an option to order, with a manual, and PTS for Spring 2018. Not that it means much to you that a stranger online is telling you this, but I guarantee you it's coming.

If I were you I would go back to my dealer in a few days when it's presented at Geneva, and symbolically backhand him across the face with your driving gloves for his deception and Or stupidity
Haha 😂.... I will if there is a manual. Thanks mate!

I just added my name to the top of my local dealer's 991.2 GT3 waiting list. Hoping to hear more details, but PTS is supposedly an early option that won't last long.

Have deposits on both.

4RS would be a catch release exercise if only PDK.

this i want pdk, anyting after 997 i want pdk

this i have manual. manual shift, manual steering wheel, manual brakes, manual window. if you REALLY want to be ENGAGED. this will keep u busy. simply having a stick in a modern car is NOT engaging at all

then again, most ppl think i am crazy.
back to my meds now

Assuming one has enough money bags to choose, decide what YOU want in YOUR order of priority:-

Mid or rear engine
manual or PDK-S
911 history vs relative GT4 newbie
canyon carver vs track car

Then decide which car fits the bill the best. If you can't, buy both n flip the one that gets less use or keep it if you can.

I have a weakness for a NA manual 911 for the road as a long term keeper on the basis that it will probably be the pinnacle of that type of technology while any car for track purposes will be outgunned by the next version or another make sooner than later. IMHO there is more to life than continuously flipping cars to be faster on track but if that's what floats your boat, go for it. Did a Huracan really beat the 918 ring record? Wow.

Agree with mooty as well.

The effort to drive my Lotus fast compared to my GT4 sometimes seems like 2-3x. But then sometimes I like not having to expend that much energy. Different moods.

I think the manual in the GT4 adds to the level of engagement. It does not MAKE the entire car, but it is additive. Since PDK-S would likely have way better gearing (which in turn adds to the excitement), it would be worth the tradeoff.

Default GT3 4.0 Manual, Now here - what are you going do?

So, its here now - the GT3 4.0 manual for about $155k with LWB, front axle lift, modestly equipped. Wait for a possible GT4 refresh or jump on the GT3???

I'm thinking real hard about a GT3. http://www.porsche-code.com/PJKVI1Z2
