20s are better in every way. I don't understand the fascination with large diameter wheels... beyond 20" larger wheels scream "I am more interested in style than performance" (sorry guys who are on 22s). I tend to like things that are NOT done-to-death and painting wheels black is DONE TO DEATH, IMO (and blacked-out vehicles are also done-to-death). It is nothing special any more. The finish on your wheels looks just about right to me... complements the trim on the body.
HEY - you're stealing my thoughts exactly. I have the 21" Turbo rims - gloss black with a silver lip. That's about as much black as I'd want. Flat black rims - yuck. They just look dirty. Blacked out (murdered) cars - yuck. Impossible to keep looking clean, and they simply look gangster.
Given my druthers - if someone has 20" turbo rims (which weren't made AFAIK) I'd happily trade for my 21" rims. My winters are 19" and the ride is SO much better and better controlled. My wife doesn't even complain about it.
Visually, they look a little small to me, but the design is nice and as others have said, the ride will be better.
I like 21s the best on the Cayenne, but as part of my widebody conversion, am actually going to 22s. Pictures of my kit with the OEM 21s make the wheels look tiny, plus with the fender flares I can actually go to a wider wheel and tire combo so will be running 22x12 wheels with 315/30 tires which keeps the rolling circumference within 1% of OEM. Here are a couple pics of the Misha kit on the OEM wheels so you can see how small it makes them look.
Put some wheels spacers on - will help the 20's feel a little more proportional. Maybe 20mm rear and 10mm or better fronts. Ecs Tuning has great choices that are well made and reasonably priced. I run 22's on mine - actually prefer the ride and look so each his own.
I love the 20's. I just bought 20's with same tire size for a bit more rubber than the 275 to. However, it is slightly hitting the caliper on my 05 cayenne s. Considering spacers before returning rims.
Thoughts please?
