R- development and postponed "PTS"...

Gunga Din...

If you don't mind, Footsoldier, let us
explore this statement further since
many readers here at Rennlist are
curious about the cost of doing a
total quality repaint on a brand
new Porsche 991!
A bit of history here. Standard PTS
(the least expensive version) on the
918 was around US$ 21,000. At a
time when PTS on a 991 was then
just $5500! And as I have always said,
the right PTS on the right Porsche
model is one of the wisest investment
choices on any Porsche custom order!
And thus, I assume the cost of PTS on
your beautiful 'Arrow Blue', which is an
easier to do for PAG Solid/Uni color,
cost you the equivalent of $US21K:
+
Some 'difficult-to-do-for-PAG' metallic colors -
like 'Pagani Red', 'Pearl White', 'Giallo Orion'
& 'Mirage/Paladio Metallic' (below) - were
priced at US$49,000 by PAG on the 918*:
*And two special colors offered exclusively
on the 918, 'Liquid Metal Chrome Blue' &
'Liquid Metal Silver' were around US$63K
each...but they are not considered PTS.
+
And the multi-color PTS with a customized
design (like the one below) were priced at
...well, let's just say 'très cher'!

+
I find it difficult to believe that a total repaint to
PAG factory specs at Porsche UK Reading will
cost the equivalent of US$21000! It that is the
actual price, I will hire these guys (my suffering
compatriots) to put my '73 914 2.0 behind their
truck & take it to England for a proper quality
repaint job in 'Ravenna Green'!
+
If Porsche Reading's price is around the equivalent
of US$49,000, it might perhaps start to make sense!
Please clarify (in general terms) the approx. costs
of these repaints since you raised the topic in your
post...and we are all curious!
***
Regardless, I am left 'speechless' over what you
are doing!
You're a better man than I am, Footsoldier!

I love your '924 Carrera GT'! Derek B. has
one in GB too. It made for an impressive
picture when they where all built together
for homologation purposes & lined-up in
Germany before being shipped out! It is
one of my all time favorite photos:
Sadly, I turned down one when they
were offered for sale in the US by the
US importer at a very reasonable
(low) price.
They were having a hard time selling
them off at the time, believe it or not.

Speaking of interesting paint jobs, apparently Liquid Metal Chrome Blue has been done as PTS on a 991 RS. Likely the only example of this paint colour by Porsche in a car other than a 918. I wonder what the PTS cost for that would have been for that RS! Below, as reported by Will (ptsrs) on his IG:

trip to the most romantic city in the world,
Paris, with your lovely wife? I am glad at
least your survived the dangerous bite of
a Great White in South Africa!
By the way, I hope Will does chime in on this
photo reported as a 'Liquid Metal Chrome Blue'
991 gt3 RS (below).
As you all know, photos often 'lie' about what a
color truly looks like to the naked eye. When I
think of 'Liquid Metal Chrome Blue', I remember
a metallic color with a slight, but significant, blue
tint in its lovely, albeit expensive, metallic paint:
The above are confirmed 'Liquid Metal Chrome Blue'
paint on the 918. The 991 gt3 RS above looks more
like 'Liquid Metal Silver' (if indeed a Liquid Metal) like
the one I posted in Rennlist several years ago at The
Thermal during a 918 test ride I attended there:
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...ain-why-2.html
But what do I know? From the photo presented
the RS doesn't look much different that 'GT Silver'.

I remember seeing a few years ago a CGT that was painted in liquid metal silver I think at Porsche Reading. Or at least I think it was liquid metal as it was not Polar Silver or GT Silver which could be easily compared by 2 other GTs around. Colour was much deeper than Polar (which was better than GT) and looked superb.
