Default Parcel shelf pics

Anyone have pics of a 944/951 with the rear parcel shelf in place of the rear seat?

There was a parcel shelf option for the 944? I never knew that - was it an aftermarket thing, or did it come from the factory? Is it lighter than the seats?

I thought those were only for the cabriolets?

Not that I am aware of, this is from a 968 cab. I honestly don't know what is in the back of a turbo cab or a S2 cab, kind of curious now.

As for this piece, I am pretty sure it's not lighter than the factory rear seats. It's mainly constructed of fairly think plywood IIRC. I sold mine a few years ago, but from memory I am sure it was at least 30 - 40 pounds.

I assume this is the part the OP is referring too. If there is some other factory piece, I've never seen or heard of it before.

That is a rear seat delete cubby made specifically for the Cabriolets. It is a stock part number and can be found in the Seats Catalog.

The 968 Club Sports used a parcel shelf (other models may have as well) that replaces the upper seat backs with a simple shelf that extends over the rear seat bottom area.

How about that, learned something new today.

Wonder how hard one of those is to find, although it looks like you could make one yourself relatively easily.

Thanks guys. I've seen some of the rear seat delete threads. What I'm really after is possibly using my existing seat back, but adding something so there are doors, like in the first pic.

Hilariously that part # shows up as "REAR LUGGAGE DUMP" and a cost of $5006 USD, and still available. I am not sure I believe it !

Believe it. Available from other Dealerships for less. Black I believe is the only color available though.

They are pretty handy for storing things that you want to keep out of sight. I liked mine, but it had to go to mount the harness bar. IIRC I found mine on eBay.

Yes, these will bolt into any 924, 931, 924S, 944, 951, 968.

However, note that there is a section of exposed sheet metal (see above pic and look carefully at the dark color above the cubby) that leaves a somewhat "unfinished" look when installing in a non-cabriolet car. Ask me how I know.
