Default Whats missing here?

Kid's car developed a sudden LARGE streaming fuel leak at the pump last Saturday.

This shouldnt happen..told her how to fix it, but decided best to fly up and help.

Met with Chalkboss up there, and well, you see what's missing in the PO's previous hands-on work on the pump?

There should be 3 crush rings for the check valve if I recall correctly. The one fat one for the check valve inlet and 2 more equal width rings for each side of the metal line.

That's a bit scary- makes one wonder what else may be lurking round the corner- hopefully nothing of course.

Amazing that it's run this long without a noticeable leak, much less a fire.

Why use any crush washers at all? Why not just torque down the steel lines and the nuts until they don't leak and start to deform? Doesn't everybody do it that way?

Just Kidding.
