Run what the manual suggests. I think that's 40lbs in the front and 50lbs in the back. I put DWS06 on mine this past spring but I still run Blizzaks in the winter.
There's no comparing an all season with a snow tire...
I picked up a set of used 20" Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow which I ran this summer and will swap once snow hits at which point I will be going to 18" studded Hakkas.
I also have the DWS06 for summer and shoulder seasons. studded hakka's for winter. I run about 39F 48R for the 20" size.
How do you like the DWS06 on the Cayenne?
I'm about to replace the summer tires on my 958 turbo (21"), and was leaning towards them. I'm in CA and only encounter snow during trips to the Sierras to ski.
How do they impact the Cayennes handling? I put them on my wife's MB GL550 and they work just fine in the snow, but that is a softer car.
So far I quite like them. Had them all summer. The sidewalls are softer than the pirelli rosso I had previously. Only noticed that under hard high speed cornering.
Put some DSW's on the x5 this spring. Very happy with them and the 10k put on this summer.
Non-runflat is 7-8 pounds lighter per corner. I agree on the single season tire may perform better. But I was getting tired of replacing my Dunlop single season tire every year. The all season DSW still looks great.
Put the snows on last night, inspected and photographed all the brake pads for my files, while I was in there. Snow gear in the back as well. ****** straps, shovel, brush etc.
I opted for the Extremecontact DW for the 20" summers as I have a dedicated set of Blizzaks for the snow. I only swapped them over this weekend as we've been having 20c days in the great white north
If you like the perfomance of the DWS i may try them next time and skip a change over.
porschefan931. Here is a take on my DWS06's in the snow. From another thread I posted this today.
"Ok, some real world comparison. Had first snow to stick on the roads/hwy and still had on my DWS06. They work, kind of. The temp is right around freezing so the snow is at it's most slippery. I would say they are barely adequate. I wouldn't feel confident taking them out on a long snow and ice covered hwy drive and expect much in the way of avoidance capability. Braking ability is poor, especially on a downhill, though much better than a summer tire. FWIW I have been using exclusively dedicated ice radials pretty much since they first came out, so the difference seems very substantial to me. Out to the garage to put on the hakkas. Again, the snow I drove in today is about as slippery as it gets except for a film of water on ice."
In other words there is no comparison to a dedicated ice radial.
I found the DWS06 quite alright. The only downside is when I first put them on I noticed the sidewalls were softer under cornering. Now that I have driven them since spring, I don't notice anymore. I sometimes do a lot of dirt roads and mild 4x4 so they do get better traction than the Pirelli Rosso's I had before.
Any updates on tire pressure or opinions for tire pressure on 21 inch all seasons?
Manual doesn't have all season 21"
Following the trend from the 20s in the table it looks like it would be:
Partial load - 34 Fr / 39 Rr
Full load - 39 Fr / 46 Rr
that would be my guess too. The manual probably doesn't state it bc there weren't any a/s tires at that point. I'm sure you will be fine with either the summer pressure or a few lbs less. Just keep an eye on the wear and adjust accordingly. Keep us posted on the wear and ride and noise
