I actually wear silk glove liners and I think they are wonderful. I tried 3 brands from amazon but finally found the right Goldilocks glove. Very thin, and unlike several other brands I tried the seams were much better placed on the glove. Some of the others had seems that would meet at the tips of the fingers which I didn't like.
I just bought these to keep my hands warm when the top is off in the winter and so far I love them. I went slightly smaller than my hand measurement and the they fit perfectly. The leather provides excellent grip on the wheel and shifter and more importantly the feedback comes righ through. http://www.autodromo.com/accessories...riving-gloves/
Just a note, the alcantara gets matted down due to oily, sweaty and dirty hands. If you clean it regularly they should stay looking new indefinitely. Gloves will obviously eliminate the issue.

For around town I like Japanese taxi driver gloves. I also put those covers on my seats to keep my seats perfect. I get some looks but ... whatever this is la you see weirder things.
For the track I use alpine stars racing gloves. They're the business. But not as soft as those taxi driver gloves.
