Default 996 fixed wing weatherstrip question

Greetings all-
What does everyone do for the rear weatherstrip "seal" that goes at the bottom of the engine cover where it meets the bumper?

The factory part #996.512.611.00, has protrusions that fit into the decklid, but most of the aftermarket ones don't have slots/receivers.

Do you modify the factory seal, go aftermarket, or go without?

Thanks,
Paul

There is a specific AeroKit 2/GT3 weather strip without slots. It has a strip of tape to hold it in place.

IIRC it cost me $70AUD

You could get a used one and modify/cut the bits that hold it in place off and use tape. I just bought the GT3 OEM one.

I have a pic of it I can post later

Just for your reference all the parts for an AeroKit 2 wing are from the GT3 MK2:

- Wing bolt covers
- Wing bolts
- Fan bolts
- Weather strip
- Wiring harness
- Snorkel is the same as any Carrera
- Angling wedges

If you're missing a part for the genuine AeroKit 2, look up the 996 GT3 on AutoAtlanta all the parts are on the rear lid diagram.

Additional info:

- The brackets for the blade cannot be bought as separate parts so dont damage or lose them (which is hard as they are riveted on)
- The underside of an AeroKit 2 decklid should be painted and finished with a gloss clear coat
