Just got back from meeting with Philippe and his son Baudouin at their hotel in downtown Seattle near the Space Needle. Wow. Super nice guys. Philippe loves to talk about their adventure, the car, everything. I wish I had hours to talk with them about it all and I'm sure Philippe would have no problem with that as well. Great great guy. They are now on their way south and are taking the 101 down the coast. I recommended that they check out Canon Beach and it looks like that may be their next stop. If anybody has a chance to meetup with them during their trip across the USA I highly recommend it! They have a very loose itinerary and only need to be in New York by November 19 to catch their flight home.

The car is amazing. They've had almost zero issues with the car the whole trip. They only needed to replace two fuel pumps while going through Russia due to bad gas. One tank of gas actually had stones in it! The car is pretty much stock except for the modifications that are mentioned on their website. Philippe said he had the roll cage installed because a friend of his pointed out that with the tire mounted on the roof a rollover could cause it to crush the roof without additional support.

When he was in his 20's Philippe drove a Renault 4 all over the world. His sons always envied that experience he had so that's why he is now taking them on this adventure. Cool dad!

I asked him what the next adventure was for his 928. He said this is it's last big expedition and that he will preserve it as is for as long as he lives. He did say that Porsche contacted him about borrowing the car for display in one of their exhibits next year for 928's 40th anniversary as a testament to the build quality and reliability of the vehicle. Very cool and well deserved!

Glad to know that you were able to meet them.

Philippe and the car will be at the Euro 928 next year, with cars from the Porsche Museum.

They have a flight back to Paris on Nov 19, but I suspect they would try to get to NYC a few days early to see the sights.

Yes. They have a live GPS feed on their location via their website.
