Those are great ideas, Jon!

Maybe offer a gag rally for those who don't want to do the Fun Run?

Or how about a sort of trivia game about the people attending. Get each participant to tell the organizers something about their car or themselves when they register, and everyone gets a 'Treasure Hunt' sheet at check-in to fill out. The more folks you talk to and get to know, the more chances to fill in enough questions to win a prize.

So, I might volunteer that I'm originally from Connecticut, or that I paid $4,000 for my car, or whatever. There would be a question: "Where is Shawn originally from?", and people who know me well or people who sought me out would get the answer.

You could even do several different sheets, like a Bingo card, so that not everyone would be working on the same set of questions. People would have fewer questions to fill in, and more people would be in demand for questions. Maybe even throw in a couple 928 or Porsche trivia questions on each card.

The other thing I was thinking is that if the weather is good - like it was this year - the sale tables and such should be under canopies out near the cars. Going back to the pavilion definitely felt like being away from the action!

Shawn - Thanks for chiming in with more good ideas to help folks get to know each other. We didn't like how far away the pavilion is from the parking lot. And we were disappointed by the park officials being unwilling to let us reserve the parking lot near the pavilion. You may have noticed the water company trucks parked near our 928s. The workers park them in the lot because they aren't allowed to take them home. It turns the parking lot into a commuter lot for these county workers. Franklin Park was a pretty setting (and could hold 65 cars easily), but we'll continue to look for better options. One huge plus was being right in the middle of Fun Run country. One big minus is the lack of lodging in western Loudoun (unless you like B&Bs).

Just my $.02....

The drive to Franklin Park from the hotel wasn't bad and seems like the hotel is really "Frenzy Friendly"!

Being my first Frenzy, I enjoyed the hospitality of Odds & Ends to clean up our cars.

Having a decent restaurant onsite was good, too. Not as entertaining as late night Pizza pirating (in the past - from what I hear Pete was a ringleader) but it made it easy.

The Fun Run was AMAZING and you guys should be proud

I'm with Shawn though, knowing well in advance is preferred.

As far as Oktoberfest goes, it was nice but I could kind of take it or leave it; especially since alot of it shut down at 5PM.

Great Job all the way round in 2016 ---- Just means 2017 will be even better

yes,
I won the watch and of course since I had my almost 15year ago old with me he got it.
it was awesome. We never have had any luck at raffles, bingo etc.. So we were totally expecting it to not be us. We are watch guys and my son has become a 928 but. He compares every other car to it.
when they announced the prize his eyes widened and turned to me and said "Dad,would 't it be sooooo cool if we actually won the watch". I told him " you know that's not going to happen"... Then bam we won...

he was on cloud nine. He was really stoked when many of the guys were trying to trade various items. But really made him feel special. The peak was when fragggle offered Logan someone else's. Cooler of beer for it.
he has shown the watch to EVERYONE... And every viewing includes all the watch details, etc. it is, for now, his prized possession.

Show him this thread and add his to it. It's awesome to hear how much he likes it!

Shawn really provided a outstanding prize!

thanks rick ill do that.

Since we stayed back to see if we could help shawn, we got to octoberfest just as it was closing down.
I agree with Trey, i could take it or leave it. I seemed like it was geared more to guys that wanted to drink beer and eat brots. Without a co driver we were not able to participate in the beer part with a drive back.
I don't say that to disparage the event or the effort put forth by the organizers, it was all great.
I will more than likely go on the fun run but skip that part next year.

I did really enjoy the summit point event. that was a big hit for us.

I made my opinion pretty clear about Oktoberfest (I hope) on my Frenzy 20 Survey. I won't get into it here.

Frenzy 20 was still one of the best ever!

Default Frenzy 2017

The dates for next year's 928 Frenzy will be Friday-Sunday Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2017

Please mark your calendar!

All those who attended this year's event were polled through SurveyMonkey, and the feedback has been very helpful.

I sent Holiday Inn an email today praising them for doing a great job of reserving our parking spaces and chastising them for having insufficient table service for us on Friday evening. (I warned them multiple times leading up to the event that we were going to have over 60 people there.)

So, no Oktoberfest next year, but I do appreciate the willingness that was shown this year to try something different. 928 owners are awesome people, that's for sure!

On the calendar Greg - sorry I missed such a good one! I am glad that Oktoberfest is off though - as I wasn't a big fan 2 years ago.

My piece for Flussig is done. Can I get a couple folks to read it to make sure I didn't get any of the names or events spectacularly wrong? PM me with your email.
