Yup...I was one of them. I overheard a few others talking about selling. What J.P. is saying is more true than many would believe. Curt and I spent some time at Oktoberfest, over beer and sausages, talking about many facets of the 928 community that make the people the best reason to own a 928. At least 10 people talked to me about keeping the car. I was encouraged to drive it more and attend more 928 events, particularly SITM. Trying to own a 928 in a vacuum is really impossible. Searching the web and finding the various online forums makes ownership possible. Becoming part of the 928 community is what makes ownership incredibly rewarding. Even my wife piled on in a text message at 9:20 AM Saturday morning, not long after I arrived at Franklin Park: "Please don't sell the Porsche...I know you will regret it." Greg gave me his two cents about keeping the car and asked me to hold on to the PA system...clever way to assure I'll be back next year
J.P., John (Beerfish) and I spoke about getting local NOVA owners together for Katie's C&C or just taking drives to pubs for lunch (Huntershead in Upperville, or Adroit Theory brewery in Purcellville, come to mind). We should all be getting together more than once a year

There were several comments made at the beginning of Frenzy along the lines of "I really need to sell this car/my cars".
But after experiencing the camaraderie of fellow owners; seeing the plethora of used and new parts and services available to us; sitting in on a tech session; witnessing the brain trusts ^^ that were generously offering their expertise/helping folks with complex issues; seeing the help that Shawn got with his alternator issue that went way beyond help on the side of the road; and joining 50 cars in an impressive rumbling procession along some of the more scenic parts of VA... those comments changed to "I think I'll keep my 928".
Current and potential 928 owners that haven't been on this forum and haven't experienced an event like this first hand, are only getting a part of what makes these cars so enjoyable to own.

It was my fifth trip to Frenzy this year and you guys are now the reason why I like so much driving the eleven hours (each way) from Gatineau to Sterling.
What at the beginning was for me an event to see other 928's, is now an annual party to see great friends. Year after year, I meet new ones also.
It's a moment that I wait for all year.
Now that it is over, I'm a bit sad. But I think about next year Frenzy and this brings a smile back on my face!
A camaraderie like this is something I have never seen anywhere else.
And hope this will last for many years to come.
Only 359 days to wait until Frenzy 21...
Jon, I remember very well when you showed me the text your wife sent you... And the smile on your face.
This was one of the first thing I told my wife when I got home.
This community and events like Frenzy is now what make me proud to own such a unique car like the 928.
You guys are awesome.

Was offered a lot of money for my 94 GTS a little over a year ago. The 928 community is a major factor in deciding to not let er go. And I've only made it to 3rd Coast and OCIC. Still want to go to Sharktoberfest, Spring Fling, SITM, Frenzy, and maybe even Hell!

To anyone else following along that might have an interest in a shark, attending one these events is the best way to find out what it is all about. And if you had any doubts about maintaining one, it is the best way to establish a network. Patience and Rennlist can answer almost any question but nothing beats these DIYers. Hershey has a lot to offer in the Spring, but this is Hershey on steroids because it is 65 sharks.

Frenzy 2017
We normally hold Frenzy on the weekend closest to 9/28. However, the Lovettsville Oktoberfest is always held the last full weekend in Sept. So, that would be the prior weekend. I plan to put out a survey to all the attendees to find out what they thought of the event. I will include a couple of questions on Oktoberfest.
So, hold off on marking your 2017 calendar for now ...

I'm disappointed in myself!!
I didn't make the time to meet everybody. Next attendance I will make sure to meet as many as possible.
Great community and certainly makes owning a 928 much more enjoyable.

Missed talking with you michael. Last time was 2010 sitm when we parled our two red cars next to you and alex who has the silver 78. I did get to talk to him though. These events are good times!

Either weekend is good for me right now. The Army hasn't set my Fall 2017-2018 schedule yet, but it might decide that the first weekend in October is good for them. But, if I get in far enough ahead, if they do decide to put it on that weekend, I can go, "Sorry, I've had something on the calendar for a year. I'll make it up on a different weekend."

To be fair...It would be difficult to have a chat with everyone who attended this year. I made an effort to talk to a few folks I hadn't seen before. Frenzy is growing and we want the new comers to feel welcomed and come back again. Maybe we can make a fun activity next year that forces everyone to meet and chat a bit..."Everyone with a black car...over here!...Everyone with a Blue car over here!...etc. Then Everyone with an S4 over here...everyone with an original body style over here...yada yada yada....something that would introduce people and possibly even build the useful connections among owners maintaining similar cars.

Here's another idea. Perhaps instead of several tech sessions, we could have a "Car Talk" Session. People attending would be asked to bring a question about a specific car problem or servicing task. We sit a panel of our experts at a long table. Each participant is handed the microphone and can ask their question to a person or the entire panel. The fun really starts when the panelists start disagreeing with each other. It's also another opportunity for participants to give their name and the type of 928 they own so we all get more opportunities to learn names and Pelican/RL screen names (I suck at remembering names).
