Months ago, when I suggested that the R would become a legend, many suggested that I was exaggerating. Perhaps I wasn't after all. And, further, for a driver, it presents a more beautiful, a more pure, a more emotional experience than any of the so-called hyper cars
Indeed, as some in German have said, it might be the finest driver's car since the 964RS/3.8RS.
I would agree with this, just hit 1000 miles in the 991 R, it feels very close to 64RS but with double the BHP, feels about 7-10% up on the 991 RS BHP wise also. For me the two points that stand out most are the way in which the engine spins up with the SMFW, feels like the 458 Challenge I drove a last month. Along with the interaction between the gear changes and throttle pick up, reminds me of a blue printed race engine.
In my view with the R they have created something very special. Feel very lucky to own one.

Congrats Apolo 1. Great that you're appreciating and experiencing all that it has to offer. Keep the pics and experience's coming. Thank you.
Thanks Chaps...
I only jest with you guys BTW, I genuinely hope that they make a GT3 .2 with a NA and the R Box, mated to a SMFW......Would be shame if only 991 can experience just what this is like. Whist the box and Clutch in the GT4 are really very good, when you get in the R, it really is a world apart, in terms of feel and interaction.
A couple of other points that are worth a mention, is that the R feels so light, and agile it reminds me a lot of 73 Lotus Elan Sprint I had a while back, in the way it just changes direction.....Also the aero, whist it does not have a rear wing, other than the small rear pop up one, at very high speed the car feels completely planted. Not quite like the 91 RS does, but certainly about the same as the 991GT3.
