But it's old and analogue, so it doesn't work worth a ****.
Just like a 993.
oh, so it doesn't have 26 failure modes and you can actually use it without having to review its oil filter for metal shavings? man, what a pos.

It sure does make sense, because you don't stop crying. Then again, if I had a 996, I'd probably cry also.
I've never seen a Rolex for $2300, except maybe one of JI's ones.
With that said, anyone is kidding themselves in trying to justify a non COSC watch being able to keep time better than a $15 quartz Seiko or Timex.
Whether any of us like to admit it or not, it's really just bling man's jewelry. I'm in the same boat. Wearing my BR-02 today. I've thinned the herd quite a bit but been there and done that. My next one will be a Blancpain since I never had one before.
A certified chronometer can lose up to 4 seconds and gain up to 6 seconds a day; a certified quartz movement can only vary by .07 seconds a day. This means that a CERTIFIED analog chronometer, complete with the pretty certification medallion and paperwork, can gain up to 85x more time daily than a quartz movement. The best analog watches can't come anywhere close to the accuracy of a quartz watch, regardless of how many jeweled bearings (or Mezger engines) you stuff inside.
This was my point with the air-cooled cars - yes, they may have been hand-crafted whereas the 996 and later 911's are mass-produced; the engines are no longer hand-built on the laps of German virgins, and each gauge cluster dial face is no longer lovingly buffed with the ******* of an albino unicorn - but it's still a superior device when it comes to quantifiable performance benchmarks.
Nissan people think the new GT-R is a soulless monster compared to the Skyline GT-R; if you blocked out all references to the names and manufacturer, those arguments sound a whole lot like they could actually be happening on Rennlist.
It's human nature to want to best other people. Air-cooled Porsche guys think they're better than water-cooled Porsche guys; water-cooled Porsche guys think they're better than Corvette guys; C1/C2 Corvette guys think they're better than C3/C4/C5/C6 guys; C7 Corvette guys think they're better than ALL other Corvette guys.
You'd think that Trans Am guys would think they're better than Firebird guys - but in fact, they are immune from this ridiculous automotive pecking order. They - and their glorious mullets - are too busy dodging the deputy sheriffs trying to serve them court paperwork for all those missed child support payments to care about who they're better than... and in this way, this means mulleted Trans Am drivers are probably the best humans among us.
Yes... Apparently, you missed what was behind the watch and the title of the picture.
Who would have thought a automatic watch would be touchy on a Porsche forum?? You must go nuts at any "Cars and Coffee" or PCA event where automatic watches are also worn around owners wrist with those conservative cars all parked around not gathering any attention. Oddly enough, none of the watch forums have a problem with cars in the background of their wrist shots. And for those that dont know..... a "wrist shot" from a WIS is considered the same as a garage shot on a car forum. Its not considered "bragging". There are plenty of WIS on this forum. WIS ='s watch collector. Its a forum, and many of us collect and have other outside interest that commingle with the Porsche culture.

^^^^ On paper and theory...
There's been documented posts that compares typical low end quartz to some COSC watches and outcomes are a bit different.
Obviously it depends on the quartz movmt and how well regulated and fine tuned the COSC movt is beyond it's COSC minimum requirements.
But in general, I do agree with the fact that majority of the quartz are going to win every time in the time keeping dept.
My fav is a Citizen I've had for 11 years. Battery still functions and has really surprised me in every way.
Sorry everyone to stray off the path but it is typical RL...
Ok ok ok... I'm officially in the hairy wrist watch contest.
This one has been ol' faithful, but has given up the ghost. Probably needs a good oiling like their organs. And yes, Hammond made clocks before they made organs!
^^when do you think the pictures were taken? Opps... today...OMG... It's not Tuesday??? My analog Rolex is off!!!! 5CHN3LL is right all along! Why didn't I see it! Wonder what date my Citizen has on it???
Those that appreciate quality of a fine mechanical machine that live by the motion of its wearer. Its the same quality appreciation one would have of a Steinway or Les Paul. Somethings never go out of style.
