I have enjoyed reading all the replies. Keep 'em coming. I knew the 996 vs 99X would bring up a lot of different views and enjoy hearing the strong and weak points of each car. Is the shifter feel in the 996 turbo the same as a NA 996? I have a friend near me who has a car that I can drive. I love the solid feel the 993 has but it is sounding like I need to find a 996 here to drive before I make the jump. I can't imagine that it feels any less special than my 97 coupe.

I have a short shift kit on my car so it feels pretty direct and mechanical. I know when I test drove a 996 Turbo it felt very rubbery with long throws in comparison.
The good thing is the 996 shift action can be improved for a modest cost. It may still not feel as direct as a 993 but it can be improved significantly.
My second P car, first 911. Crazy cool car. I went for lowest mileage best example I could find. Im doing age related updates and IMS. It is well worth it. Classic looks, and its still modern.
Bought 03 C4S, 10k miles in near new condition.
That doesn't even make any sense. Do better. Like, always. Be better than you are. Each and every time. Bring that total of times you were better to 1. That would be awesome.
