Super Clean undercarriage - dry ice - Channelling one's inner AOW162435
Has anyone seen this video? The lazy man's way to accomplish a cosmoline-free undercarriage without spending thousands of hours cleaning by hand with Xenit?

These guys are in San Diego. I wonder if there is a similar outfit in Northern California.

Seems to me exposing metal parts of an engine and undercarriage to -109F is not s very good idea as any paint coating or even seals that get even nearly that cold may shrink from the shock of the cold and once warmed back up leak. I would not want to explore what happens when a force fit component is subjected to localized low temperature cycling. If you really want to clean things off I use CRC electric motor cleaner to cut grease leaving parts bone dry and it won't attack plastic or rubber parts. Sometimes looking for love in the wrong places will get you in trouble.

There would be little heat exchange in the process so the part temps would be nowhere near -109F. This is just media blast with magic media that disappears.
Does the CRC electric motor cleaner work on cosmoline?

I'd say solvent is not without risk.

Had it done and it is a painfully loud process, even with ear covering. Does an OK job, but is not a quick effort. IIRC was about 4 hours. Took about ½ hour for set-up of equipment. Did I say it was loud. But, no debris to dispose of.
Andre, maybe more brain cells, but extensive hearing loss.

Yes and at any auto parts store, thanks for asking! I appreciate your interest in my Macgyveresque 993 maintenance and upgrades! By the way my rear bumper cover under-lip shield has continued to save my bumper edge from catching on things and ripping the rear cover. Still made from duct metal and copper plumbers tubing. Best Macgyver fix I ever made!
