Default Prototype rear bumper cover sheild

Rennlisters,
I have had to replace the rear bumper cover where the leading bottom edge scrapes and is pulled back and damaged on my driveway apron. I just made a prototype crescent shaped shield out of sheet metal that floats below the bumper cover protecting the forward facing cover's edge. It is not attached to the bumper cover. It is attached to the stud ends of the clamping bolts that hold the cross member of the exhaust system. The straps are made from hammered copper plumbing tube and it is fastened with flange head nuts that thread directly onto the exhaust clamping bolts.

By not being attached to the bumper cover the shield can be bent without involving the bumper cover.

I also re-graded my driveway's apron that seems to up the ground clearance by about an inch.

Other's thoughts?
Andy

What about your exhaust tips? Normally, they get damaged first...

Other than that I like the idea.

Not sure how to protect tips, maybe point them up a little or just snug them down lighty so they can tilt up if they brush the ground.

looks pretty backyard. the shield will prob just jam up against the bumper when its smacked again. fixing your driveway was prob all you needed.

lol, nothing like employing the home depot plumbing section to fix a problem that only occurs in bizarro world.

Maybe next will be a pvc intake tube?
