What to do with that convertible hard top
Didn't know what to do with my old silver hard top. The shops wanted as grand to paint it black so I decided to have some fun instead. I wrapped it with carbon fiber. I've posted a pic to show the results. I think it looks pretty darn good. I'd be interested in seeing what others have done with wraps and or plasti coat to dress up their rides.

I had a tint shop in town do the work. I paid $400 for the top and $500 for the wrap. In Rochester NY the top will be nice in the winter months. Cheaper than the $1500-$2000 for a new top.

I have played with the idea of "plastidipping" my hardtop....
Due to all the road rash (my car is black) I have even played with the idea of "plastidipping" a "bra" in the front...

Mrs. Schnell refers to stick-on CF wrap as "carbon fiber suck" - and I'm inclined to agree for the most part, but in this case, the matte wrap on the black car does mimic the appearance of the cabrio top. Pretty cool.
The shop did a nice job with the edges - the vinyl can be a pain when you're working around corners and joints. The direction of the "weave" on the channel next to the center roof panel isn't quite right, but only tools like me notice stuff like that.

There's a guy in North San Diego County that put the CF wrap over his entire car (interior too). Looks like crap. This roof-only install looks pretty decent. In general, though, when I see CF weave I hope to see real CF.
