Alright, let's try this again.

As soon as I got home, I dug up some M10 hex head cap screws from my workshop. Their heads are slightly taller than the button head cap screws, but should be fine.

Button head cap screws out, hex head cap screws in and torqued to 34 ft/lbs.

I'll be calling Roger later today.

Based on the witness marks the bar mounting points could also stand some guidance with a piece of 2x4 and a sledge be careful not to hit the fender

I decided to go beefy when I swapped out for the carbon fiber brace years ago. The brace & bracket weren't stock so I just wanted the easiest and most secure fastener.

Nice work Seth. Black is way better. Bummer about the tall bolt heads. Seriously though thanks for posting. You could have easily done this job and not posted anything. But noobs like me now have another 928 gotcha to add to our database. It's members like you that make this community awesome.

Thanks for the advice, Stan. Sledge meaning 10lbs? Or, will a 4-pounder work? I am nervous wielding a 10lbs sledge hammer around any car I am not destroying...

Ahhhhhh, the art of the BFH.
I think the old saying goes...if you can't hit it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem.

I've noticed our German mobiles are built to take it, lol.
If I tried it on any of my Volvo's, I'd have a handful of plastic tabs on the floor afterwards.
