Got any video of track times to back up that statement? I mean it seems completely off topic and irrelevant to a comparison of arguably two of the top handling cars of all time. But it would be interesting to see if your claim had any merit.

You can expect a stern letter from my attorney shortly, as soon as he sobers up.

Let's see.... 0.3 seconds faster with 58 more HP. OK, yeah, you win.

P.S., How exactly do you "Cuda" at the track? I haven't noticed you doing it. I will pay more attention next time.

I'm mostly sober. Which letter? Q? How do I make a Q sternly written? Maybe I'll have another drink.

He means when the brakes fail loading it off the trailer.

Oh inebriated barrister, once again you err.

By "Stern letter," I clearly meant a letter about Howard.

Another interesting variant of this question is if you compare Boxsters and 911s for the same money, meaning the Boxster is newer, probably a new generation. Now it gets quite complicated.

Or you put the price difference into a refreshed and improved suspension and a budget for always-fresh tires and light wheels.

C2 Vs. C4 another interesting discussion. My mechanic tells me that he has seen failures to the differentials of 996 C4's used on track. The newer cars with electronic AWD may be different. Your thoughts?
I wouldn't track mine but I didn't buy this car to track.

I know there are several RLers that track their C4Ss and I don't remember them saying they removed the front diff.

I think the 987S vs 996 question is a very interesting one, regardless of track times. There's a lot of overlap there in terms of pricing, especially for Boxsters. With roughly equal power, I just can't imagine a 996 being consistently faster.

Removing front diff is next on Vandersmith's list I believe for his C4S. AWD can be good while learning but RWD is preferred for tracking a car.

I agree, a 987 generation Boxster/Cayman S vs a 996 would be close. Engine, tire size, suspension components would make this very interesting. On track with my 986 I need to try extra hard to keep up with the 987's circulating. Besides being outgunned by nearly 100HP I am running 17inch tires to their 19's.
In a supersized world there still might be something to be said about doing more with less.

I drove both (08 Cayman & 03 996) and prefer the larger area in the 911. At the onset I fully expected to end up with a Cayman, but a highway cruise in the 911 cured me of those thoughts .
