Default Windshield Heat Shields

FYI - https://www.heatshieldstore.com/ currently has a 10% off sale by using promo code DADDY16. I found them through some past posts by Nicole.

No affiliation.

Ryan, do you have one? Or has anyone used their custom fit model for the 928? I have a couple of "generic" sunshades that really don't fit very well. I'd be interested if the fit is good.

Nicole showed me her set at Tilden park last weekend. She was very happy with them so I ordered a set a couple days ago. The whole set will cost 14?.00 with the 10% off.

They contacted me today to ask if I have the third brake light and also mentioned the rear quarter were not in original quote. I added them to my $107.00 original quote. The rear quarters were not on the store so give them a couple days before they follow up.

My problems could be that my car is 1986.5

I have the gold version for my 928. It fits very well, but it's kind of a pain to roll up every time you get in the car. It's a similar material to those space blankets you see for hypothermia victims, and it's pretty loud to roll up as well. One side has a permanent bend as a result of the roll-up design, so it doesn't have PERFECT coverage, but it's still very good. There's also some space by the mirror that could be reduced, but again... still good. I would prefer a stiffer accordion style if I had the choice.

All that being said, it works very well to reduce the heat in the car while parked in the hot Texas sun during work. I bought my car with a few dash cracks, and haven't had any more appear in my 5 years of ownership.

Hi Chris,

I did the templates and design for the 928 Heatshields for them many years ago, if they still make them as designed they should fit and function perfectly.

We also had them for the door windows but I see those are no longer listed on their website.

Cheers,

Dave

You're going to love them. I've had mine 3-4 years now and are holding up great--albeit Germany sun shine is a lot less than say south Texas. Bill Ball commented on them a couple years ago and that's what got me off the dime. Heat aside, I believe he was 100% right when he said most interior damage is UV related and not heat.

fwiw, due to the suction cups on the rear (and doors if you can get them) don't pull the shield off like you're ripping apart Velcro as you may break the suction cups off. Instead I kind of pinch the cups on the door shields and the rear I slide towards me. The two sun shades for the back seat work great for holding the top of the sun shield in place and tight against the rear glass.

I broke a couple suction cups when I first got them but Nicole was super cool and sent me a repair kit. I assume Heat Shield will do the same for you if you break any.

I also put them in the car when I store it for winter - anything to keep the UVs from the garage windows out...

I just ordered a set, thanks for that Father's Day coupon code!

FYI, for my '79, they didn't have the driver and passenger door windows as an option on the website, but if you call they do have them and can add them to your order (which I just did). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the link and promo code.

I have been looking for a hatch sunscreen for about 5 years and this is the first company I have found that still makes them.

Just ordered two with the discount, thank you Itoolio!

Yep, these Heatshields are essential to preserving the interior of your car. I put them in place whenever I park the car in the sun for more than 10 minutes. How many 928s have you seen with cracked pods, cracked dashes, warped feet on the A pillars, severely warped rear interior quarter panel liners with the vinyl or leather pulling away, tattered luggage covers and split seat covers? I've seen a lot. Because I bought a set of Heatshields from Nicole many years ago, my 282K mile 89 suffers from none of these issues. Without the Heatshields I don't think the interior would survive more than a week or two of direct California sun exposure without significant damage. Try to get a full set for ALL windows. Nicole put some clear tape over the backs of the suction cup assemblies on my Heatshields so if the cup pulls off its mounting parts, these parts stay in place and don't fall off and scatter inside the car. I think over the years, Heatshield has improved the cup parts so the suction cups are less likely to come off their posts.
