I put on track days at Roebling Road Raceway 4-5 times per year. Here are a few picks from this past Monday May 23rd. We had a great time. Only 30 cars, plenty of open track and a great group of people.

Really iike this number placement.

Lining up at the scales

Waiting to get into the track the night before to drop tools and some of the other participants can drop cars.

We caravan down the day before. This was the first rendezvous site

I used black tape on all the lights. It turned out really cool.

What are the rules for cabs on the track...I see some with top up, some with it down. What about competition harnesses...does your safety equipment relate to different run groups? Any special modes such as oil pan baffles? Are the cars given tech inspections at the track or required to prove the car was given one at a shop?

To answer your questions.
Tops up or down depends on the track and the clubs/groups regulations. Every track and group/club I have been with requires them up.

Safety equipment doesn't relate to run groups per say. Run groups are based on driver skill and Track time. Specially prepped track cars have their own run groups often.. (depending on the club)

Yes, every vehicle requires an inspection before you bring it to the track. You or a mechanic can go through the check list items if you're DUI kind of person. Every group I have been with also does a pre grid inspection of the vehicle (focus on tires, brake pads, lug nut tightness, brief engine section, and lastly inspection for loose items.)

Porsches are built track ready (most models)
The stock oil pan baffles on a 997.2 9A1 can easily handle track duty on aggressive DOT street tires. I can only speak for that engine. The 997.2 C4S is track ready out of the box with options SPASM and sport chrono plus. (comes standard with electronic AWD and LSD). I get ZERO brake fade for the most part and temps all stay inline.

Harnesses and additional safety equipment are needed for competition racing not DE days with gentlemen point by passing rules in effect.
