Default Tail light lens question

My original tail light lenses are kaput……….warped and with some small cracks at a couple of the screw locations. It looks like there are 3 main options for replacements. ECS sells a set of Uro lenses for around $100 (great price), Porsche sells OEM lenses for about $350 a set (but without the Bosch stamping), and it is possible to locate a set of used but great condition OEM Bosch (with stamping) lenses for about $400.
Any sage advice on which route to go from those who have faced this question or used the various options? If money was no object I'd drop the $400, but it is, and although I like originality, if the current Porsche OEM lenses aren't considered "correct" then why wouldn't I go with the Uro lenses? For those that have the Uros, are they good quality and is the coloring correct? My car is all stock with the exception of an MSD ignition at this point.

About ten years ago I picked up a pair of brand new OEM Bosch for $50.00 at the Hershey Swap. I guess those days are gone forever.

The cheap replacement lenses have a slight pinkish hue. They are very brittle and I had one crack at the screw location several weeks after installation. Also the painting of the black border doesn't go all the way to the edge like the original. You can fix the latter but not the former. I got the replacement Porsche lenses from Pelican and was very happy. It's a perfect match for original apart from the bosch emblem.

If you can find originals, they polish up nicely with the plastic polish and a orbital polisher. Just be careful because they are also very brittle, probably related to age.

Thank you for the order and glad they've worked well for you.

To the OP, we have them here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...pg8.htm#item23 We have pictures of the Uro and Genuine lenses for you to view as a comparison.

I used Sierra Madra. They're well done and they look nice. They do though lack the Bosch markings. An alert judge will pick up on this right away.

My big problem was the attaching hardware. A PO threw most of the original screws away. Most of the vendors have no clue about the little rubber gaskets the go between the lens and the housing. If you don't install those the lens will definitely crack.

The actual sealing gaskets were easy though.

The new ones from pelican include new screws and rubber washers. I wish I knew that in advance because I ordered the parts separately thinking I would need them….

I apologize about that. I'll give this info to our catalog department and have a note added to the parts to avoid any future confusion. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I purchased the URO lenses after coming across this and couldn't be happier with my decision.
