Question Semi-Solid Trans mount - Dumb Question

I purchased this:
Torque Solution Urethane Insert Transmission Mount
Applications: Porsche 996TT/GT2/GT3/C2 & GT3 Cup 997TT/GT2/GT3 & RS/C2/C4 and GT3 Cup

**Fits Manual & Automatic Tiptronic Transmission. Will not fit the PDK transmission.

It clearly states 996 C2 Manual Transmission. 1998-2011

Where is this located??

I don't recall seeing a part like that on my 996 when I dropped the motor. I think that is for a tip and not a manual.

The bracket is the transmission mount itself. The insert is the plastic part. I just changed mine on the GT3 a couple weeks ago. It sits right in front of the transmission box in the center of the car.

Check out the images on this link. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...on_Removal.htm

Tom...I'm not seeing it on the Pelican pictures. I'm looking at pic #10.

I think that's the later type transmission mount , you might have the earlier type which was two pressed steel brackets , one is a plate with four bolt which bolts to the body and the other is like a cross brace that fits into it and bolts to the rubber mount on the end of the box.

That's the turbo/tiptronic mount.
Edit: tiptronic for mk2

The one for your car is part of the tranny.

The black insert style above is what you want.

+996 - what Alpine said.

The support you show is for the GT3 which is a different transmission. I don't know if it used in any other models but definitely not in a Mk1 or Mk2 C2 or C4.

If you have a C2/C4 996 you can use the Function First inserts to firm up a sagging transmission mount or even to make it firmer than standard. The other option is to punch/cut/mangle the old mount out of the transmission and press in a new mount.

Mk1 six speed manual. The big hole at the lower left is where the mount gets pressed in.

That is exactly what my transmission looks like.

I have been googling the torque solution part number.

Well, they have an error on their website.
You folks are correct, the mount I spent $400 on does not fit a 996 C2.

Needless to say, I will list it for sale in the next day or two.

Thanks for the help!

If you can't return that 996tt trans mount, let me know. I am replacing my engine mounts this week and may need a trans mount if my current one is shot.

There is mis-information abound regarding the transmission mount styles used on the different models. Here is a breakdown for the 2 styles of transmission bushings:

The singular transmission mount bushing that's pressed into the trans bell housing is used on:
996.1 Carrera (manual)
996.1 Carrera (tiptronic)
996.2 Carrera (manual)

The transmission mount carrier that uses 2 bushings and can be entirely removed from the car is used on:
996.2 Carrera (tiptronic)
996 Turbo
996 GT2
996 GT3

Thanks for the clarification. I forgot they switched tip trannys for the mk2 models. I've edited my post to reflect that.

TRUST ME...if there's anyone that wishes Porsche didn't change up their transmission mount configurations every few years/models, it's me haha
