Default 996 LED running lights, YES or NO

Considering getting a set of Techart 996 running lights.

Not sure if it is right for a 2003 996 Aero to have them???

Opinions anyone?

I think it's entirely up to you. I like the look of LED DRLs, and I appreciate the added safety they offer. That being said, it's difficult to mount them on the front of the 996 without having them look like a cheap add-on. There's just not a good place to mount them. The lights in the photo seem to look good.

Agreed, personal taste. I like the safety of it as well as the look. There are more options available for MK II than MK I bumpers. I had to fabricate my own.

Ahh, they actually look pretty darn good, but I guess if the light was dispersed more evenly and not individual dots .... and more contoured to the shape of the vent, then it would be a grand slam. Regardless, it's all based on what you like. I usually turn on my fog lamps while driving during the day time. It's funny how people don't see the cars like my other vehicles, but when I don't have the fog lamps on during the day, I get a lot of people pulling out in front of me.

After retrofitting them to my old 2001 Audi S8, I would say skip. My reasoning is that it didn't come from the factory with them, and it would be very hard to do an install that looked really good, and if you do it, make sure they dim when the headlights come on. Otherwise they look silly.

Additionally, they might or might not work long term, especially if you drive in the rain.

Your choice. These are just my experiences.

Never screw around with the factory electronics. Use your fog lights as posted above.

Here are the LED DRLs on my 2003 C2 Speed Yellow. Personally, I like them.

I vote yes. Install in the top inlet and they look tight.

No. DRLs in general look stupid and have been shown to not actually increase safety during the day (people still don't see you) and reduce it at dusk and night (because some idiots see some light and forget to turn the headlights on).

Do a search. Somebody posted about adding DRLs to his car while making his own intake grills. Pretty sure it was a C4S. The led lights came from a place called banggang or something like that. A pair of lights ere under $5 IIRC.
