I did do a whole day at Laguna with the valves forced closed... not sure if I melted anything...
Contact Alekshop if you want to purchase one of these pre-made... I believe they are making a few of them. But you'll need to modify the GPS coordinates for other tracks.
Maybe the 991 can handle it. Maybe it can't. The car is designed to have the valves all of the way opened at high rpm/WOT, and the 997GT3 guys have sustained damaged by forcing the valves closed. It's risky and not worth it, IMO.

The design that competition autowerks uses I know for sure works at laguna seca on the GT4, but the shop is very busy and can't always help out new customers...

I'd start with the turn down tips uninstalled. Bring them and swap them track side if you can.
I've been at LRP 3 days in April, and had zero issue with the sound police and CVR PCA is allowed 88db. There have been up to 8 GT4s at the track on the same day and while they all sound wonderful and loud, there have been plenty of louder cars out there. None of us not the GT4s nor the louder cars have been given a warning to the best of my knowledge.
You can't compare what someone blows on one track to another because you don't know how far away they are checking or what audio gear they are using to measure sound. Also a different track could have different walls or angle to the track surface causing amplification to the sound.

Does anyone know of a product that'll fit the standard OEM exhaust?
Also (and sorry if this is covered in another thread) how hard is it to drive at Laguna Seca with the standard GT4 exhaust and not exceed the sound limit? I'm a fairly inexperienced driver so I'm probably not going to be going very fast anyway. For my first track day at Laguna, I'm wondering how realistic it is to not to anything to the car but just back off a little on the appropriate section.

Gets $$$ fast...$800 is a lot (IMHO) just to kill 5db @ the track. You might be better off just having your local Porsche or muffler shop fab up something for a fraction of the cost.

As John points out, I added the Fabspeed Deluxe Dips + Turndowns to the stock exhaust system as in the pic above.
To note, I just received word back from John Montgomery who attended Limerock this past weekend. He is running Race Headers with a custom/development valvetronic exhaust. With valves closed and our turndowns, he was running 2db under. Yes it is possible to run at Limerock with modified/upgraded exhaust systems haha
