Default Valet Can't Drive A MT Car...

Last week me and Mrs. NewToThis went to an "upscale" place for dinner and I drove my '04 C4S. Once we got there - I found out that there was no easy place to street park - Bucktown Chicago...

OK I'll "valet" for $10 -

I give the key to the valet - we go inside and sit down. Five mintues later the valet comes to get me to say that of the 4 valets on duty that night - NONE of them knew how to drive a MT car!

At least they didn't try to 'give it a whirl' on your car. That's good. Papajin or Le Bouchon? Haven't been to either.

All goes back to this:

In all fairness to people today, there just aren't many stick shift cars to practice on even if you wanted to. But yeah if your job requires you to park cars you should be one of the few who should be able to handle it.

All part of the dumbing down of America. On the bright side there are fewer people able to steal your car as well.

Should've went to Gibson's where all the Polska's are. They would've taken it on LSD for you and cleaned up all those carbon bits from your exhaust.

Please don't do that again. If anything, give the guy extra tip and request that you park it yourself in one of the front spots.

Okay, this post calls for a wise guy answer from someone. Might as well be me:

"upscale restaurant". First Guess Wendys. Second Guess, Dairy Queen.

I would consider that a requirement for a valet to be hired.

And never, ever valet your PCar...

I always get the best parking spot directly in front of places where I know the valets can't drive a MT.

Taught my 17 year old to drive manual first. Then let him drive the automatic later. Now he hates automatics. Kids don't learn this stuff automatically (no pun intended) . It's up to us to pass it on.
