If the OP wants a raw driving experience like a Caterham, things like GT4, GT350, etc are barking up wrong tree. It would not be something one could daily drive.

I would strongly look into the Lotus Exige S V6 Cup or Lotus 3-11. From other manufacturers, check out the Drakan Spyder, Ariel, or Radical. Lotus will be most "car"-like in this list.

Get the Mazda Miata Global MX-5

And for what it's worth, the BAC Mono is complete garbage, and an overpriced one at that. Fun weekend car if you're Bruce Wayne, but unless you have money to burn and your own personal pit crew and garage, it's just not worth the money nor the hassle.

I can see calling it expensive but garbage? Maybe when the wrong guy builds it but that thing is a hell of a lot of fun. You can adjust all of the suspension with a few wrenches by yourself also.

Not taking anything away form miatas. I have won a lot of races and a pair of championships in the previous gen mx5.

Like I said, if you're Bruce Wayne it's a fine car.

But for the rest of the 99.99999%, it's just not worth the hassle.

nothing beats the driving experience you get in a Seven especially Caterham chassis:

i'm Austrian. but yesterday i had do a line up:

my keeper is the black highspec HPC. the yellow R500 is for sale cause the red 400hp sequential shifted HKT RS Clubsport popped up... anyhow, i had to arrange them at least ones like that: HEIL SEVEN!! 🇩🇪

I know a number of Caterham SP/300 customers that have been left high and dry on parts as they're no longer making them. Last I spoke to one of them they were considering buying/making molds so they can repair their cars. I have zero interest in buying from a company that runs their business this way.

I might add a Radical or F3 this year. I've pretty much gone off the Cup idea as I want something different.

you are right Nate. the SP/300 is and always will be something special.

on "normal" models (s3, CSR,...) the spareparts are in UK/EU only sometimes an issue. in the states (don´t know how good Superformance is) it will be not easier. but the community is really strong and will help!

if you go with a 485R or better 620R you will be fine. also with parts.

Perhaps you can just sort the admin to import an Ariel Atom. I had one on track in Spain a few weeks ago... Simply raw and superb. Extraordinarily well put together, Honda engine easy to maintain, fits almost any driver, amazing feel, fabulous. The supercharged model is over 300hp in a lightweight chassis - you'll scare yourself. And the price is the level you want. The Ariel guys in Somerset, UK, are very helpful. And most have so few miles, that barely used is an option (although you won't save much of anything). I'm often in the UK if I can help a bit.

Thank you all for your valuable input!

jo_ker I'm not planning on buying a Caterham now, but soon I'll be sure to hit you up for recommendations, it seems you are pretty darn knowledgable on these bada$$ machines!

I decided to go for something I've wanted and lusted for since I was a teenager and if this buy goes smoothly (knock on wood), then it should be here in a couple of months or even less! I'll keep you guys updated!
