Who's got the best fuel

Ethanol is mandated by law in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, ... (at least) such that total gasoline volumes must have 5% volume of ethanol (Alberta). Bronze has 10% to make up for 0% in premium. So, no ethanol in Shell premium. Other manufacturers are in the same boat, so they all have to produce some combination of ethanol blends.

10% mandate in BC as well.
Bad legislation.
Let's see .... world food shortage in staples (wheat, corn etc), rising food prices, technological advances allow for access to larger reserves of oil (ie Alberta and Sask oil sands) .... so let's legislate the conversion of food crops.
Governments wanting to appear "green" for political reasons.
Blindly following the "green" morons.

Wow, I never knew about the mandate....I'm in oil and gas not farming so I'm biased....grin, but still.
Any thoughts on whether or not the hydrophilic nature of ethanol damaging internal parts - rusting, plastic and rubber degradation? I heard this a while ago but nothing recently. My truck dealer says that this hasn't been an issue for at least 10 years, maybe more.

Ultra 94
Gents (and ladies),
Just last weekend I came across Petro-Canada Ultra 94 octane gasoline available in Calgary and surrounding area.
There are about 10 stations as of May 2012 in Calgary selling this product.
Check P-C web site for a location nearest you.
It made a significant difference in my turbocharged WRX last weekend on my trip to Invermere. I'm sure our P-cars benefit in the same way.
Happy motoring,
=L=

More on this here....

Depending on where you live, not all fuel octane levels have ethanol, simply most of the regular stuff. trust this helps.

Location.... Location
Lucky you tgt, the nearest one is about 6km away from me. Not too bad.
The engine is remarkably more responsive and runs "smoother".
Overall an improvement over Shell 91 octane. Seat of the pants, of course. Although the engines were designed around RON 98 (Super) in Europe.
For some reason however, I think my fuel economy has suffered a bit compared to Shell 91.
Should I see my foot doctor?

FYI - Husky now selling 94 Octane at a 12-cent discount every Friday at all sites in Winnipeg (including Lockport & Headingley), where the product is available. 16 locations in total so one should be near you...
So, regular is 121.9 today (87 octane) 94 only 126.9...
