Default Great Montreal detailing experience

You know the expression - if you want something done right, do it yourself. Well, that works when you know what you're doing.

Second best (actually best, in most cases) is to find someone that will do a job with the same attention to detail as you would do yourself - if you could.

Dwane did a front end detail on Big Bird, prior to XPEL wrap. Objective was to clean the paint and polish defects out to have the best surface prior to the wrap installation. That was a relative breeze since the paint is in really good shape.

The challenge was the headlights. 996 headlights are plastic (garbage and $2K a piece) and super susceptible to UV damage. Keep in mind this is a 16,000 KM car - and the lights were ostensibly 'ruined'.

Starting with all the right stuff (3M 800 grit) Dwane worked his magic though progressive finer wet sanding right up to and including a final polish. Night and day. The defects were DEEP, and the results are dramatic. Not brand new - the sun damage is deep - but a solid 95% and good enough for the girls I go with. Don't tell Nat. She'd still be buffing.

Results always vary, but the key to me is someone that will take the time to do it right as if it was their own car. Halfassed is easy.

Thanks Dwane.

Your black car would come up nice! The Flaming Olive, well, has other virtues...

Speaking of flaming, don't forget to bring up the red hot Renn-B-Cue in May.

Not sure who will be attending all the 2016 events and has room to store and transport, but would be good to have it trackside 2016.

Cheers

Matt

That's a great question.

I think the GT3 is Big Bird, the driver is Ol' Snuffy.

I am sure Dwane does Italians as well as he does Germans.... no pun intended with his signature.
BTW Dwane is a wealth of knowledge and more than willing to provide valuable guidance.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I really should document a cars transformation from start to finish. I really get into it and forget to get before/during/after pics.

Matt, if you get some outdoor pics of the lights it will show up the new clarity to the lenses better.

Buffing the Big Bird and massaging the headlights. Ya, that's right up Dwane's alley.
