the 951. The most under valued car ever?

Well looks like I have to get back on the track, and specifically ask for you to teach me how to drive the car that has given me the eternal weekend; every time I drive it on Sunday, it is so fast I get home on Saturday.
And no it wasn't broken and stalled, it was running, and I did you all a favour. let's just say there won't be mosquitoes at CMP this year
Q: how do you pass a 951?
A: wait for the headgasket to blow
Q: how do you pass a GT3 in a 951?
A: Put the 951 in reverse
Q: how do you spin a 951?
A: wait for a GT3 to blow coolant

I'm probably (ok, i am) partial, but I think the 924 (s in paticular) is more undervalued. It is not nearly as quick as the 951 but an honest blast to drive. The styling may not be for everyone, but I think they have aged very gracefully considering they have been around since the mid 70s. It also gave the 944, 951, and 968 the basis for its styling.

Getting back to the original topic, the thing that gets me about the 944 series is how small they really are. Seen alone, they appear to be like any other two-door coupe but put it in modern traffic and the car shrinks. The Turbos and S2s have definitely aged better than the bumper cars but I agree that they're a classic shape with some striking lines. Yes, I'm a fan.

That goes for the 911 as well. A friend of mine has a 2008 Viper SRT/10 which is enormous on the outside but can barely fit the two of us inside. The 911 is like a spacious studio apartment inside in comparison!

I am liking this thread.
As a long time Porsche fan I will always have a place in my garage for a 911 as it is "the car" for every Porsche-fanatic. But as an owner of a 951S it is hard to believe it gets better than this.

951 undervalued?
Yep. I agree with KPJense. Too true.
Got ours in 1987. Still a good runner and head turner.
Pity (or do I mean irritating) that Porsche/Excellence/R&T/etc. don't give it the recognition it deserves.
Now up to 360,000 and still going strong. If only the 944/951 mechanics held up as well, or as long.
Enjoy the ride, wherever.

Both are fun cars with different dynamics. I have driven both and stayed with the 944 turbos and wouldn't trade or sell my 944 to get in a 911 let's put it that way. I'd buy a 911 (996GT2) to just have something unique and similar hp/weight ratio, but will never part with my 951S...the 3L that is!
