Default Icar April 2011 Ground school

Many thanks to the organizers and the instructors for braving the heavy wind in the morning, the freezing temperatures at noon and the hail in the afternoon to make this event as warm and welcoming as in the past many years.

Thanks for another successful edition.

The few pictures I got in before the freezing rain started.
Great to see all the track guys having fun again despite the weather.
Hoping everyone made it home safe.
Slightly off topic: Paul we need a picture of you with the shirt on.

Default Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Huge shout out to all the volunteers! Once more you have turned a less than perfect day into a learning opportunity. Who knew how how important using visioning was, looking up track to the left, when you can't see out the windscreen!
Great day for a motor car race!

So here is a little winter tune for you to hum, now that you are all home safe with your Sparco's hung by the chimney to dry.
And yes Dwayne, thanks so much for the T-shirt. Pictures will be posted.

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

oh the weather outside is frightful
but our cars are so delightful
and as long as Michael says GO!
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

a little snow's not a reason for stopping
even though the R compounds are hopping
but with the boost turned way down low
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

when we can't see what's left or what's right
how we'll hate going out in the storm
but if I can reattach my heater hose right
all the way home I'll be warm!

The track shows no signs of drying
and I'm in your mirror and really flying
but as long as we love this sport so
let it snow! Let it snow! let it snow!

Your 'Vader car is way cool
But me I like my old school
Any fool know it ain't what we ride
What make the shorties drool
It's how we drive what make the posers hide
And when we pass 'em on the inside?
All the hotties shoutin' you dudes rule!

Loved it (I dragged her into it, and I had to drag her out of it when it was time to leave!). She was hesitant at the start, but Ken did a great job of calming things down, and she did very well! Big smiles on her face coming out of the car, and on the way back home she kept thinking Apex this, smooth that, 3 and 9 o`clock, dial into the turn... All that was missing from her vocabulary was the word 'flat-out'.

I feel that we have a young addict on our hands. Mission accomplished, I think. Now must convince her for LCMT.

And of course, as some of you know, the master plan was to get her in this exact spot, and broach the subject of the 'need' to purchase a new track car, with her. She did NOT (yet) and I controlled my emotions not to look too . There is hope. Thanks everyone for the collusion on this master plan.

Despite the trying weather, an excellent event! Thanks to all who helped set this event up and the brave who volunteered!

Now, if only I can train my Cayenne (and it's driver) to steer away from those nasty orange cones...

Check under your front bumper. Someone probably put an "Acme Cone Magnet" under there as a joke. And while you are down there you might as well remove the "Carbone Red Flag Attracter". i found one under my car. it's easy to spot; it's just to the left of centre... Or is it to the right?
