Ian, en passant, un casque Snell 2000 n'est plus valable. Donc 2005 (bon pour dix ans = 2015 ou mieux, Snell ou BSI 2010 bon pour dix ans = 2010.
Hi Bob, unless I misunderstood, Snell 2000 was going to be honored for PCA DE in 2010 since the S2010 spec helmets are not going to out on time. Obviously, if you are buying a new helmet, you'd want to avoid a "soon to expire" 2000 spec. Question is, how "soon"!

Can you please confirm/clarify?

Best,

Matt

Matt the 2000 helmets will not be allowed as soon as the Snell 2010 comes out which will be sometime this year. So a 2005 would be a far better investment. Alternately a BSI helmet (FIA Spec) is good for ten years from the date of manufacture. So a Stilo (for example) made in 2009 is good til 2019. There is a date sticker inside a BSI helmet.

PCA DE accepts BSI, Snell SA and SM. Racing demands SA (sport auto). So for DE

a motorcycle helmet (SM) is accepted.

Best,

So If SA-2010 go out in october as they plan, we should be fine for the season with a Snell 2000..

Du DE ce n'est pas du club racing.

Ouin, bin la Section 'Track' dans les FAQ du sit ede Rennsport porte a confusion alors.. ca peut facilement donner l'impression que les Snell M ne sont pas accepter pour les DE..

Thanks Bob, makes perfect sense. Assuming S2010 comes out late in the season, a common sense approach would be to give a pass on S2000 right through the Sept. Calabogie event. I assume this will be at the discretion of Rennsport tech?

Matt - you are correct. On the other hand it would be foolish for someone who NEEDS a helmet to buy a 2000 version now. I you have a Snell 2000 by all means wait for the 2010 or, buy a BSI standard which is good for ten years from the date of manufacture.
