Again honest speak.. some owners don't like the idea of removing the coils/plugs. I've been down this route with a 996 we had here. Seller DID not want that done but buyer did. Car will need to be the shop for a day and some dealers might not like that.

With that mileage and age..borescope and leakdown. Leakdown test at min but might as well look at the cylinders. Figure a few $$$ PPI Vs 10k+ for rebuild

Listen to Greg and get the scope and leakdown. If there is cylinder damage then the few hundred you spend to find out will save you a ton of hassles and money - unless of course you want to do a rebuild

Scoring may never be a problem but with a Cdn car you have a higher chance - why risk it??

And $10k for a rebuild?! ****e i should have come to you!!

You can get an R&D engine for US$17k (doesnt include labour etc) and Porsche will sell you a new one for +$35k but never heard of anyone getting it done for $10k

when you remove the plugs, replace them with new (they are cheap) and then the owner gets new plugs and if you buy it you get new plugs as well.

Sorry I was referring to a used engine replacement plus labor. You can find a decent used unit if you really really look.
