Florida Winter Tour karting
FWIW, if anyone in Florida is curious about karting, or has kids who would like to see/experience karting up close, the Florida Winter Tour is set to start
www.floridawintertour.com
2 races in January at Homestead
2 races in February at Moroso
2 races in March at Ocala
The first weekend is Rotax (125cc sealed engines) ages 8 and up.....single and dual speed gearboxes
The second weekend is 'CIK'....karting is one of the 6 forms of motorsports run by the FIA.....you'll see 6 speed ICC, JICA, ICA, KF (new to the US), 80cc Cadets....pretty much everything.
Great event, great opportunity to see karting, ask questions.
You'll be impressed at the driving talent of some of these young kids.

2nd event (CIK classes) is this weekend at Homestead.
FWIW, my son will be running #353 in both weekends (Rotax and JICA) at all the events, we are pitted with the S1 Karting/OVRP group from New York.
Record turnouts and it was kind of cool to be standing next to Scott Speed at the driver's meeting and seeing the look on my son's face as he was sitting in the bleachers with the other Jr drivers.
Great spectator event.

The FWT does 2 weekends/month at each track.
The "Rotax" weekend is for all the Rotax (125cc, water cooled, single or 2 speed) classes.....MicroMax ages 7-10, MiniMax ages 8-12, Junior Rotax ages 13-16, Senior Rotax ages 16+, Masters Rotax agesd 16+ and DD2 (2 speed paddle shift direct drive) ages 16+. Rotax is a sealed engine concept and an international programme.
The "CIK" weekend are all the other cleasses of karts, per the FIA/CIK specifications......
80cc Cadet, 100cc Intercontinental A Junior (JICA), KF2/KF3 (new classes this year) and the top class, Intercontinental C (ICC)....6 speed sequential shifter karts...about the same hp/weight as an F1 car....the top of karting.
So, the only difference is in the kart specifications....all the classes/weekends provide great racing.

And here I was wondering where you were.....I even arranged for the Spanish national anthem to be played when you arrived.......
Next weekend should be a bit less crowded, as the CIK weekends aren't as large as Rotax weekends, but a bit more interesting IMHO given the variety of classes.
My son and his friends arranged for the adults on the team to go out on the arrive and drive concession karts, it's been over a year since I've been on track....nice to know I can still impress my son with my driving......now, if I can only get him to listen to me.......kids.
(of course there were a few 13/13...OK, more than few, but lots of fun)
