Just asa jumpstart to keep the momentum of this thread going, here are 3 options. Let's choose one and then set a date for mid January, on a Saturday.
It'll be just whoever feels like showing up - not anythoing organized like PCA but instead a GDI event. Think back to college for what that means...
1) Hooters (Seminole Hard Rock Casino, Pembroke Pines, or Pompano Beach)
2) Old Key Lime House in Lantana (just west of A1A)
3) The BBQ place in Okeechobee (just down the road from "downtown" Clewiston, or the restaurant at Roland Martin's "resort" (and I use that term loosely)

How about a drive around the Lake Okeechobee? I've done that a couple of times with bikes and it's a nice drive! There is a nice restaurant on the waterfront on the west side of the lake (don't remember the name of the place but it's pretty much half way around the lake).
We could meet up early at Dunkin Donuts by 441 and Southern Blvd for a cup of coffee and to gather everyone and then continue west on Southern to start the drive around the lake.
Nex stop would be breakfast at the restaurant half way around the lake.
I'm actually thinking about doing this on the 27th (the coming Thursday). Anybody else interested?

Hey Juha you have a motorcycle as well? I have done the Lake O many times on my Harley and it is fun for sure I'd rather do that run on the bikes than in the car, and your itineary sounds great maybe a bike ride this weekend? if not, I am up for #2, Key Lime House this coming weekend in the cars if anyone into it That sounds more enjoyable nice drive, check out the cars and then have some beers perfect combo

1 vote for Hooters Pompano. Central to north & south, right off the freeway. Car-friendly management (when there are no football games scheduled). They allow our Corvette club to rope-off the parking area.

The best part of this thread is that we have so many choices. I'm up for all of the above. So, Old Key Lime house next week is marked on my calendar for - noon? Be prepared to wave off the valets - they get a bit giddy when they see something more exotic than a Buick.

valet? what's a valet Seriously, I refuse to valet park my car...either the porsche or the Mercedes....Hate the thought of some kid driving my car and/or rifling through my stuff if either of these choices come with a valet, I vote for the other ones I know in S Fl these valets drive all kinds of exotic cars, but call me quirly..mine will not be one of them ha

Cole - I agree 100% on the "just say f**k off to a valet" thing. I won't let them near any of my cars.
Saturday the 29th is good for me. I'm ok with either location - let's see if DO or the others have a preference.
Oh yeah. Merry Christmas!

(Sorta) funny valet story: I usually slip the valets $10/$20 to allow me to self-park right in front. They refused on one occasion due to the volume of traffic. I reluctantly turned over the keys ('74 Stingray Roadster...many nicks/dings so no worries about the body) and told the kid "If you can return the car to me without my help, I will give you a $100 tip. Or, you can let me park it and I'll give you $20 now". Kid went for the $100 option. Well...I have the car wired for anti-theft, anti-carjacking. It will not start with weight on the driver's seat (with or without the seatbelt on). After dinner I come out and show the kid a $100 bill. "OK...go get the Stingray!". Five minutes later he comes back (without the car) hands me the keys and says "Here you go. It's around back". I figure I taught the kid his first lesson in economics. When offered $$$ up-front take the sure thing.

I've been thinking about buying one ever since I moved here but the traffic (horrible drivers) and the mostly straight roads have been keeping me from getting one.
I've rented a Harley V-rod a couple of times and some of my close friends have sport bikes that they have no problem borrowing to me.
I like the drive around the lake a lot but you might be right about it not being as fun with a car. I've done it a few times on a bike but never with a car...
No preference here. I was just throwing out the Hooters Pompano as a suggestion. You can sit on the deck and keep an eye on your car. Not sure about the Key Lime House, though. It's been awhile since I've been. If we're going to do Hooters, we must contact them asap in order to
Hooters would actually sound very good! Should we also try to reserve a table or two on the veranda? How about hitting the go-cart place afterwards since it's just a block or so away?
Scott, do you wanna meet up in Wellington and caravan down to Pompano (or to the key lime house, which ever is decided)?

Juha - 100% yes sounds fun My email is scott_safriet@yahoo.com Lets get organized with the guys later this week, but sat is a definite for either place.
As for the bike, I love my Harley, and usually only ride on weekends with some friends, thinking that there is safety in #'s. Also, always stay off the 95 and turnpike, and only travel like dixie or A1A Went for a nice ride yesterday to palm beach, and had lunch at JR bradleys.
As for sat, hooters or key lime house cool with me as long as we avoid valet parkers....ha Also, wife just told me that I am going to be bringing my 2 yo old with us...however, he's also cool, and just LOVES that backseat......

If we bring wives (I'll have the WereWife with me) let's do Key Lime House. For some reason, wives adn g/fs don't seem to enjoy Hooters as much as we do . Go figure. The parking area is pretty big, and 1st come 1st served, but I'll call and ask if they can stake out 3-4 spots near the waterfront deck.
