Ah hah! That's a work-around for the bug I'm trying to describe to Robb.

If the window is really really big, the probability of triggering the bug is less (Because, in this 280 character twitter world, who would actually write enough text to overfill that big box...)

Scrolling the editor view seems to work exactly once.

After that, pretty much no. About 1 out of 20 times I try, yes.

Where is the ability to change type size?

Why are links appearing from copied text?

Why do you have to hit the link button to place a link to an article instead of just pasting the address in the text?

Looks like mark-up tags are swallowed after you use them. This started with the IMG tag a while ago. Looks like the font tags have been ghosted too.

[Sarcasm]After all the World's a better place if everything is WYSIWYG and the man behind the (abstraction barrier) curtain is hidden right? After all we wouldn't want to burden anyone...[/Sarcasm]

You do not need to do this. you can simply paste the URL into a post as has always worked.

*I* didn't say they didn't work. Just that they get swallowed into WYSIWYG World after first use. For a font formatting tag it's not a big deal. For an IMG or URL tag, it should be a punishable crime.

EDIT: Use of 'source' button toggles display of tags.

While we're at it: why do images from members.rennlist.org load at 19k modem speeds? This, coupled with the changes to the display of loading images (e.g. no evidence whatsoever that the image is still loading) means that every single thread that embeds an image from member webs has, effectively, no pictures and is thus rendered useless. if

Me thinks the DNS charlie-foxtrot that took the member webs offline for 6+ weeks was solved with voodoo doll pins rather than skill and knowledge.

Step-by-step, month-by-month, new-'feature'-by-new-'feature' Rennlist becomes less usuable, less valuable, and less compelling.

Wait! Scratch that: just saw the 'source' button thus making tags visible again. Anyway to make that a User CP toggle?

Images from member webs are still slow to the point of timeout at which point the empty box icon appears. Too late.

You raise a very good point about slow loading images from members.rennlist. I will see if there is a way we can migrate those images into the more modern gallery which would alleviate that.

In regards to the photobucket issue, we did a significant amount of backend work to recover/replace broken pb images by scraping their site and re-uploading here. The window we were using closed before we got all 300TB of images hosted on PB and linked to across our communities.

cheers,
robb

But now if drop in a normal news headline it looks like the below. It also increases the font size of everything I type above it, bringing one of the worst "features" from MSWord to the quick reply box.

Ratko Mladic Is Convicted in 1990s Slaughter of Bosnian Muslims

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/22/w...ia-bosnia.html

And when I copied and pasted the link to the article, instead of creating an actual link it does what it did above. I don't find these to be very convenient changes. So now I have to type size tags when I didn't have to before and I have to use the "insert ink" button where I never had to before.

edit - oddly the text changed size to normal on its own after I edited this post, but it still kept itself bolded. Stranger and stranger.

Great! Is that effort something that was publicized to the membership?

this is exceptionally odd. What browser and OS are you posting from?

How do you edit a picture size or resize one in this new version?

Even when I returned to the post and selected edit it does not show the size of the picture like the older version did just last week or so , like 2000 x 1000. It only just shows the picture.

Mine is an iMac 5K but still running OS X Yosemite 10.10. Something that works. )))
