Replying to old for sale ads...

Mods, Please figure out a way to mark cars sold in the Classified section, especially in the Vehicles classifieds. There are tons of old ads that are replied to by relative unknowns here on RL with either no or an extremely low post count. Most appear to be replying to multiple ads one after the other and sound like dealers (not registered as sponsors) and flippers. It's more of an annoyance than anything else but it has gotten progressively worse since the purchase and the deployment of autopilot by IB. Many other forums require a minimum post count or other such credential to post a for sale ad (used to have to be a member here to do so). Back me up here guys. You know this pisses you off too...

As somebody that tried to sell a car here in the last 6 months, I agree. Those spamming the board looking for deals that are long since gone push real ads down to the 2nd and 3rd pages very quickly, making this an ineffective place to move a car.
And I did remove my ad when the car sold elsewhere.
PS: While I am complaining, is there a reason why non-Porsches are allowed to be listed here? Plenty of other avenues available on the internet.

LOL - I agree with the OP's argument. As a seller, it sucks too - I listed a boat for sale on another site in 2010 - it sold quickly, I indicated it was sold, and asked for the thread to be closed back then. I just got a call on it last week! Usually 1 or 2 times a year someone digging around finds it and will call me about it. Why it can't be removed forever I'll never know.
All you have to do is have a time frame allowed for For Sale threads - maybe 3 months, at which point it needs to be updated by the seller or automatically removed. I'm no techie but it can't be that hard.

As someone who is searching for their first Porsche, nothing pisses me off more than this. Specifically, whoever that guy is from Miami who has bumped like 10 of these threads. Makes it hard to find something that's still relevant.

I'm going to mark my calendar, wait one year, and resurrect this post... Just cuz I think that would be funny.
I agree with Metzger, can the guy from Miami please stop... I keep thinking I can get a 993 for $30k until I realize it's a six year old thread. It's annoying.

Seems like just building in an expiration would greatly reduce the old ads being bumped. I think 4mos or so is more than ample and would take care of 3/4 of the problem. After 4mos lock or delete the ad.

How about have sellers update/edit the original posts subject line with "SOLD".
After all they did benefit greatly from a virtually free ad on the best place to buy or sell a Porsche.
Works well in other forums.
