Wow..!!!!
Hi John..!!!! After seeing this on the main index page - it finally dawned on me it was a post FOR me - not posted BY me..!!!!
OK - here is where I am.....
All the code is set - excpet for two "import" areas. One is that some of the posts on these Forums show as HTML, and have HTML embedded commands - which look really silly in the new forums...?? Second - when I import the users, everything pulls correctly - BUT - in UBB there is a Login Name coupled to a Screen name. In vBulletin, folks will have to Login with their screen name from these Forums. I know these sound trivial - but, from a support standpoint, may be somewhat daunting, given that I'm the only "support" staff withaccess to the Programming/Admin interface So - if only half the folks get "lost" in logging in, that's only 7,000+ folks I have to assist..
Oh - did I mention the Avatars?? Naww...
Anyway - nope - it's not forgotten - just a little behind in making the code all pull together..!!!
Best to you John..!!!!!

John - I'm amazed you manage to do so much, the current site feels as if it has a huge team working behind even though we know otherwise - can't wait to see the new & improved!!
Keep up the excellent work

Hey Christian..!
My thanks..! As you know - the team is Jen and myself - and hundreds of folks like you and John above... In a lot of ways, it's folks like you who have made Rennlist what it has become (which is somewhat "daunting" at times... ).
As well - the new site is actually running on a hidden server right now. I hope to be in a position to "throw" the switch in the near future, after I can figure out how to make the username transer a bit better and more seamless???
Anyway - my thanks to you and John for your support, enthusiasm and patience... It's more appreciated then many realize.....

No.1 is God,
No.2 is Ferdinand Porsche
No.3 is Ferry Porsche...
Seriously, I think John D is 1, 2, 3 and more but, being the modest, unassuming sort of guy that he is, he generally uses '4'.
Jen comes in at something in four figures, I think!

Wow - you guys are having your own private conversation..!!!
OK - my ADMIN account is #1, but I don't post from it, as it looks like Oh-oh.. Here comes the #1 Admin User..!!! Anyway - I'm just "John D." - not the ADMIN...
#2 and #3 are Viken and Rick T... When I first set up the Forum for testing - I asked a few folks to give it a "test drive", and to say "Thanks!" - kept their low numbers... I figured maybe someday - they can auction them off on eBay... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

John,
Just thinking "loud" with the keyboard...
The trouble is that the login name is not the screen name, right. So what if you import a second account for everyone with the old login name. Once they log in to the new site with the "wrong" name, you can route them to a page where you show them the correct login e.g. screen name.
That might safe you from all the support calls, well not really all, sure, but the larger half of it.
In the meantime, many thanks for all your effort and brilliant work, it is deeply appreciate on the other side of the pond as well!

PS: Can stop my self from asking (hope you don't mind): Once you pull the trigger, will the new Cayenne site then be available as well?

Hey Matt..!!!
That's a terrific idea..!!! My thanks!!! Yep - I think I can set up the import routine to do exactly that - or at least - a "HELP" file appearing at the top of the page to assist with the first time log-in, explaining how to log in to the new Forum.. Again - my thanks!!!
Also - the new Cayenne site may be appering before then..! The Cayenne specific "Forums" are set - so I simply need to add some "content" to some of the areas (FAQ, Reviews, etc..)... While this week is pretty hectic, let's see what I can get done, OK???
Thanks again for the suggestions..!!!!

No problemo, I'm glad if it can help making things a bit easier for you. However, I'm not sure if the "help" alone would prevent the support calls, since most of us with login names different from screen names don't know the former anymore (I had to look up mine to be honest).
It was by no means my intention to put you under pressure regarding the Cayenne site.

For that, it might also be a good idea to set up a "suggestions" area for Cayenne Owners/enthusiasts - to find out what other areas of that sight might be of interest to them.. For example, asking the folks if they want a "Registry", or an area like the Rennlist "RennQuest" site, where other Cayenne owners can find others if they are traveling... We can add things like that after the new site is "live"....
Anyway - my thanks again..!!!!
