Question Dates on Posts

Is it just me or is the date on posts a little goofy? I am used to month first, then day, year...this board is setup day first, then month, year - seems a little weird.

Not complaining, just making an observation.

I only use the day first when spelling out the month, i.e. 25 April 01 which in numerics to me should be 04-25-01.

Is it just me? It just seems to confuse me at first glance.

That's the European way of writing the date.

Don't ask me why a board hosted in New Hampshire is using that format; maybe JohnD is getting in touch w. his ancestry or something.

I agree w. you, it's a little disorienting for us 'muricans.

I applaud the "wrongly" formatted dates. As far as ROW is concerned, we 'muricans get it wrong and I find it difficult to disagree in at least this case. Writing software for the International community, I deal with issues like this all the time, and they are a real PITA.

The problem with writing out the month is that April isn't "April" in all languages.

But at least if spelled out, it's obvious that it's the month and not the day! (Some folks use Roman numerals for the month, but, well...)

Some Europeans (mostly the Brits) jokingly refer to our Independence Day holiday as April 7th.

I, for one, think the ROW dating system is more appropriate on the Internet as sites are supposed to be for the World (WWW?) not just the US. I don't see what the problem is in reading 6 July 2001.
