For people with allocations... id like to know your history with Porsche... it boggles my mind that people with several new car purchases cant get a spot while others new to the brand get allocations.

Think of it this way...Porsche wants to grow the brand so it's hard to do that if you're constantly selling to existing customers. You can reach a wider audience of new customers by getting them into a GT car then selling them a SUV or Hybrid thereafter.

If you read Porsche Panorama magazine pay close attention to the editorial section and sales results. One can see the data and infer that Porsche is struggling to sell cars. July was 0.6% up for all cars (SUVs too) year over year...ouch. During the summer too which is their butter sales time...

I'm still waiting but have bought a 997.2 C4S from my dealer in 2012. Deposit placed Feb 2016. So not a high repeat customer by any means and now their range of passenger vehicles won't work for my family. Need a 7 seater.

My understanding is the methodology is not consistent from dealer to dealer. My dealer advised they are giving it to "VIP" customers first (read - strong relationships and high volume purchaser), not to be confused with the US VIP Program. Then after that they will devise an approach to distribute remaining allocations based on previous purchases, trade ins, potential for future business and whatever else went unnamed in our conversation. Date deposit placed wasn't called out.

Wish the approach was prescribed by PCNA so a customer can know they will get a car now, 2 weeks from now or 6 months from now.

My Canadian dealer went essentially based on date deposit was placed. While I'm sure there are some VIP customers here and there I was one of the fist to place a deposit and will be one of the first to get one. I've only bought one used Porsche from this dealer before.

Exactly. All I would like to know is whether or not I'm getting the car. If it's a year from now, so be it, I'm okay with that, but it seems like I'm wasting time....waiting for the unknown.

^Exactly.. You nailed it. Some awareness would be great.. Waiting isn't a problem if you know it's coming.

I don't understand why you're posting that here.

We're all sitting here waiting for allocations for a GT3.

That's a GT3.

Not everyone knows the details about the touring package...nobody is forced to read it.

True. I was just looking for context.

Now I think you're mocking me with more of what I can't have.

it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes for them to make good.
