I used to drive between Montreal and Muskoka regularly. The route between renfrew and bracebridge via Bancroft is unreal. Also going between ten free and Huntsville via highway 60 is a pretty cool ride. Roads around west end Toronto are no bueno.

mto the guy talking about Ottawa, if you don’t need to go to Ottawa specifically, go to Barry’s bay or Bancroft, and you’ll find some cool roads.

id love to do a calabogie track day and take all these back roads to get there. That would be a stellar trip.

Ha! I didn't even think of deer. Will probably go in May/June in a Spyder.

The Opinicon Road between Hwy 15 and the Perth Road is probably the best low speed road that I have found. Beware that there is pretty much nowhere to pass on the entire stretch so weekends would be unadvised. This road at Chaffey's Lock also closes periodically to allow boats through the lock.

This is great, thanks! Have to limit to a day trip. But this is all good reference to plan it out.

Agree, I'm in Oakville. You can go out the rural Milton/Halton Hills area, but it's nothing terribly exciting.

No doesn't have to be Ottawa specifically. I could even do 2 separate days. I don't think I'll be hitting the track this year, so have some days here and there open to go drive on the street.

South Bay Road is a nice little go between on the west side of the 400. Our cottage is just past the bridge off Whites Falls. Too bad Upper big Chute was converted from a rally road to a high speed bypass, kind of preferred the former.
If your driving Whites Falls its a great road to Big Chute but there can be a fair number of cyclists and runners, please slow down and give them some room when passing the shoulders are in bad condition along there.

As someone who recently moved to Canada, I couldn't agree more about the scenic roads in Southern Ontario. It's a shame I haven't had the chance to explore them yet, but your recommendations sound amazing!

I'm actually planning a trip for this summer, and I'm looking to explore new places.

Here’s my all time fav Muskoka 100. Its a full day so start early from Toronto. 400 north past Barrie and exit at 69, then 169 and go through Port Carling and then left on 25 then at the T go right to 141 and left and immediately right through Utterson and on to Port Sydney, follow #10 over the Muskoka River and continue to the T then left on Brunel Road #2 and into Huntsville. At the T in town go left and right at the Shell Station and over the bridge and left at the lights. You are now on Ravenscliffe Road that after a long time becomes Stittsville Road and finally into Sprucedale. Then Left on the 518, possible the best Porsche road i’ve driven in the province. Just out of Orrville turn left on Tally Ho Sword Road and at the T go left on 141 and follow that all the way into Bracebridge where signs will put you on 11 and back to TO.

I do variations of this route multiple times a year and can definitely agree with it being the best in the province, especially if you hit it on a weekday. 518 is magic, quiet most days with a high speed limit and some really engaging sections. We've got a cottage just south of Rosseau on 3 mile lake, always slightly bitter if I'm up there with family in the big SUV and don't get to enjoy the roads.

Is it still fun at the speed limit?

518 is posted at 80 and there are plenty of corners cautioned at 40. I set the cruise on the Boxster at 80 to see if it could be done. Yup, but passenger got sick. Theres a 20 km section like that. Its best done in late fall after the leaves.

#10 between Port Sydney and Brunel is excellent too but is posted at 60, and early and late in day is guaranteed to have wildlife on the road.
