Yes there is a minimum, and yes when its a nice sunny winter day its fun to go for a run.

Agents tend to not do anything unless you threaten to leave.......its surprising how little they may know when its their job and they are supposed to be experts.

Give Belair Direct a shot, they also allow you to remove road coverage during winter months.

My '90 C4 was my daily driver until last last year - only place that would insure an older (high mileage) car was RBC and their rates were relatively good.
Now that I have a winter beater / daily driver, I switched JUST the 964 to State Farm - I had the car appraised and have an agreed on replacement value (currently $54,000 which I think is reasonable). No time of year limits for driving - mainly to events, out for a drive, etc - 4500km/yr or so, but it doesn't specify that anywhere in the policy paperwork
I kept my other cars with RBC as State farm couldn't come remotely close to rbc for my "regular" car and house insurance.
I'm paying $130 more per year to insure all three cars now compared to just my wife's Pathfinder and my 964.

I am with statefarm, and TD MM before. I have a question about suspending coverage, the last few years they have more rules aroudn that. It use to be $10-20 a month over winter months, now i find I only save $200 out of 1300 for suspending coverage for 4 months.

I hate them all. A house claim and a not at fault car claim 3 years ago and they denied both, but paid in the end.

I'm with TD MM. They did the suspending thing last year as well. Around $20 a month. Where do you get $8 a month while suspended?

I like how they make your statement so confusing you can't figure out what you are paying.

We deal with the Personal via the CBIA. They have been great to deal with on claims and rates seem very reasonable as I shop them againt the competition yearly at time of renewal.

My one complaint is their statement, absolute worst of any insurance Co I have ever dealth with. It's a mess and not consumer friendly in the least.

sorry for the confusion on my last post. My 6 turbo is with Lant insured through Elite. Lant told me they will not suspend coverage for storage. My car is 14 and I just found out it is on a collector car policy which is only about $300 cheaper than my old regular policy. They also told me since it is later than 99 that it won't go down significantly in the new year. gotta love insurance companies.

Well, I made some calls today.

Pricing the exact same details with each company ($1m liability, $1k deductible, 5,000km/yr) for an '02 C4S, here are the variances in pricing:

TD MM: $2,165
State Farm: $1,725
Intact: $1,180 (who I currently use, through a broker)

WOW - what a swing in prices! I guess my current provider is competitive!!! I'm almost nervous they screwed up on their $1,180 quote because it's so low.

I have extended liability coverage also. All house, car, boat sled ... an extra $5oo for 5 million.
Who sues for $1M anymore? $5M is the old $1M.

And while on my Big Smoke safety message soap box.
Brother in laws house up north burnt last sat night. 6 year old professionally installed gas fireplace caught fire.
1:30 am Sunday morning. All the smoke detectors went off, alarm company called, fire trucks in 15 minutes.
Everyone out and safe. Smoke like you wouldn't believe. 2o firefighters, 3 trucks.
I was shoveling out foam for a few hours. Check your smoke detector batteries and expiry dates on your devises.
Every smoke detector has an expiry date on it. Most are 7 years. New rules are in place for what is needed.
Smoke and O2 on every floor, and I would try for a safety light as well. Check your local requirements.
My north build WAS smoke on every floor, one smoke and O2. It has now changed to Combo units on every floor.
Big Smoke the safety bear.

At TDMM. that's on a 996, we have been with them many many years. Currently three vehicles, and the bulk of our insurance donation, the house and cottage. Boat is through Harbour Marine

I bet they have your home insurance too though so are factoring in a healthy discount.

+1, multi-line/vehicle discounts are strong in my experience...it's almost free for me to add a second car to my policy

Man that seems like a lot of money for a not overly expensive car.

Interestingly, not.

I have 2 properties insured with TD MM. So, their quote included a 15% discount for that but still is no where near my current auto insurance broker's quote!

BIG smoke - yes, I'll get greater than $1m but was simply using that as a base for quoting.
